The Beneteau Gran Turismo 41 is a GT40 with a fresh face

When Motor Boat and Yachting previewed the Beneteau Gran Turismo 41 ahead of its UK debut at Southampton in September 2021, it summed it up neatly: the GT41 takes the GT40's blueprint and adds enhancements to keep the boat at the top of its game. The numbers confirm it. Beneteau lists the same 41 ft 7 in length, 12 ft 8 in beam, two 325 liter fuel tanks and 200 liter water tank as the GT40 of 2015 to 2021, and the light displacement is within a few dozen pounds.

What changed is mostly what you see and touch. The hull windows gained a new shape with a GRP shark's fin jutting into the glass, the hardtop and aft flanks became more sculptural, the windscreen became one piece with no central mullion, and the interior moved to Andreani Design's grey walnut. For a buyer, that means a well-proven hull and layout with a more modern look and newer systems, and it explains why the GT41 sells for much more than a GT40 of similar condition.

Driving from the middle

Like the GT40, the GT41 puts its wheel on the centerline, giving the skipper an even view to both sides, and MBY noted that the thinner windscreen supports improve that further. Three raised seats face forward at the helm, although the navigator on the starboard end is boxed in by the other two. The North American equipment list pairs a docking joystick with either engine, and Beneteau's model page lists Zipwake automatic trim tabs, a bow thruster and a Garmin electronics pack among the features.

Overhead, a large standard power hardtop has an electric sunroof and optional side windows. It is a semi-open design: you get shade and spray protection at speed, but the GT41 is not a closed coupe and is at its best in warm weather.

Two Volvo diesels and what they deliver

Power is twin Volvo Penta diesel sterndrives, either the four-cylinder D4-300 or the six-cylinder D6-380, both with joystick. MBY reported the bigger engines good for just shy of 40 knots with a cruise around 27, and Cruising Odyssey quoted about 38 knots with the 380s. No magazine has published a full speed and fuel curve for the GT41 itself.

Because the hull is shared, the GT40 tests are a fair guide. Yachting measured a D6-powered GT40 at 33 knots on 28.8 gallons per hour and 30 knots on about 25 gph, which is better than a nautical mile per gallon for a 9 ton boat. Expect the GT41 with the 380s to be in the same territory, and the 300 hp boats to top out in the low to mid 30s. Diesel sterndrives are an unusual choice at this size; they keep weight low and the cockpit free of an engine room hatch, but the drives need diligent maintenance.

A cockpit designed for facing each other

Beneteau built the GT41's deck around conversation. A large U-shaped salon seats six to eight people facing each other across a table, opposite an exterior galley with sink, 49 liter fridge, electric grill and ice maker. Aft, the sun pad sits at bench height facing the sea, and MBY noted a sliding backrest that turns it into a perch for watching swimmers or a full-length lounger.

The teak swim platform lowers electrically into the water for tenders and water toys. Wide, recessed side decks lead to a bow sun lounger with lifting backrests, which gives the boat a second social zone at anchor.

  • U-shaped cockpit salon for six to eight
  • Exterior galley with grill, sink, fridge and ice maker
  • Aft sun pad with sliding backrest
  • Electric lowering swim platform
  • Bow sun lounger with lifting backrests

The lengthwise guest cabin trick

Below, the GT41 keeps the arrangement Beneteau used on the GT38 and GT40. The owner's cabin is forward with a queen bed and two large panoramic hull windows. The guest cabin amidships has two single berths that convert to a double, with a walkway down the middle that sits in the deepest part of the hull, giving far better headroom than the usual transverse mid-cabin. MBY called this the layout's strongest point.

Between them, the galley has two gas burners, an 80 liter fridge and optional oven and ceramic hob, and a lounge for four can be ordered to convert into an extra berth. The single head has a shower behind a translucent door. Air conditioning and heating were fitted. It is a true two-couple boat; families needing a third sleeping area should look at the GT45.

Running costs and maintenance priorities

With twin diesels, a 172 gallon tank and a likely cruise burn in the mid 20s of gallons per hour, plan on roughly $25,000 to $45,000 a year in the US excluding depreciation, depending on slip, insurance and hours. Volvo sterndrive service is the line item to watch: bellows, U-joints, anodes and drive oil seals need regular attention, and a full drive service history should come with any boat.

Like other Beneteau GT hulls, the GT41 uses a polyester, fiberglass and balsa sandwich, so a moisture survey of the deck around fittings is a sensible part of any purchase survey.

Values and the boats around it

Used prices have stayed firm because the boat is young and production was short. YachtBuyer showed GT41s built between 2023 and 2025 at $396,000 to $561,000, and European asking prices range from about 360,000 euros for a 2021 boat to 524,000 euros for a 2023 one. In the US we estimate $340,000 to $560,000.

If budget is tighter, a late GT40 offers almost the same hull, layout and performance for less; the asking prices Yachting reported in 2025 started near $259,000. If you need more space, the GT45 adds a full-beam master and a second head. The new GT40 launched in 2025 is an entirely different design by Michael Peters with outboard or Yanmar diesel power, and starts at $650,000 for the Coupe.

Our verdict on the Beneteau Gran Turismo 41

The Beneteau Gran Turismo 41 is the best version of a good idea. It keeps the GT40's quick, efficient hull, the centerline helm and the clever lengthwise guest cabin, and adds a cleaner windscreen, better styling and a more modern interior. It is a two-couple boat with one head and a semi-open top, so it suits warm-weather owners who live in the cockpit. Choose the 380 hp diesels, insist on full sterndrive records, and compare carefully with a late GT40, which offers most of the experience for considerably less money.
