Tiara 43 LE and 43 LS for sale, two boats on one hull

Anyone searching for a Tiara 43 LS for sale will quickly run into the 43 LE, and the two are easy to confuse. They share a 43 foot 6 inch hull, a 13-foot beam and a 21 degree deadrise transom, and both were launched under the Tiara Sport banner before the brand folded them into the main Tiara Yachts lineup. The LS (Luxury Sport) is the open version, essentially a very large, very luxurious center console with a bow cockpit, a mid-deck galley under the hardtop and a forward-facing U-lounge aft. The LE (Luxury Express) puts a fully enclosed, climate controlled helm deck on the same platform, with glass doors aft and a proper saloon feel.

Power and Motoryacht called the LE the sistership to the 43 LS, and that is the right way to think about it. Choose the LS if you live in the Southeast or Bahamas and want open air and a bow full of seating. Choose the LE if you boat in New England, the Great Lakes or the Pacific Northwest, or simply want a dry, quiet cabin you can run in May and October. This guide focuses on the LE but flags where the LS differs, because the two trade against each other on the brokerage market.

Built in Holland, Michigan for short, steep seas

Tiara has always built boats for the Great Lakes, where wind against shallow water stacks up short-period waves that punish lightweight hulls. Boating magazine described the 43 LE as a stout boat with a beefy stringer system and no rattles, creaks or groans in a pounding sea. At about 24,000 pounds for the current twin-engine boat, it is heavier than most outboard express boats of its length, and that weight is a big part of why it rides the way it does.

The 21 degree deadrise at the transom is a real offshore number, and the hull carves flat, tight turns even at speed. Yachting noted the boat turns in roughly half the circle of a comparable inboard boat with rudders. A Seakeeper 6 is the common option and worth having if you anchor in open roadsteads.

The rotating lounge and the fold-down terrace

The feature that sells the 43 LE at boat shows is the cockpit. A lounge module rotates from forward-facing for running, to 45 degrees toward port, to fully aft-facing for sunsets or watching swimmers. On the port side, the gunwale is electrically actuated and folds down flat to water level to create what Tiara calls a terrace. Combined with the platforms on either side of the outboards, the effect is a small beach club on a 43-foot boat.

Yachting reported no water intrusion at the terrace seam when it ran the boat, and Boating noted that the terrace will deploy and retract only with the ignition off, which is a sensible safety interlock. On the updated boats buyers choose between the Buffet Lounge module, with a high-gloss table, electric grill and counter, or the Adventure Module with fold-down seating, a freezer, livewell and fishing gear. That choice tells you a lot about how a used boat was used.

  • Lounge rotates forward, to port and fully aft
  • Port gunwale folds down to a water-level terrace
  • Buffet Lounge or Adventure fishing module on current boats
  • Glass door and window system opens the helm deck to the cockpit

Helm deck, galley and two cabins below

On the LE, the helm deck is enclosed by a large windshield and side glass, with a portside lounge and teak table, a pop-up TV and a galley with sink, microwave and a two-burner cooktop. The early boats used a clever system of clear canvas doors that slide out of the hardtop supports and latch in the center, later updated to a glass door and an electrically operated window. The helm carries twin 16-inch Garmin displays and Mercury VesselView.

Below, there are two cabins. The forward cabin has an island berth and the second cabin spans the full beam amidships under the helm deck. A single head with a separate shower stall serves both, and headroom reaches 6 feet 5 inches. The LS uses a similar plan with a forward berth and a mid-berth. Neither is a long-range liveaboard, but a couple with two kids can spend a week aboard comfortably.

Triple 450R versus twin 600 V12, the performance split

The early 43 LE ran triple Mercury Racing 450R outboards, with triple 425 hp Yamaha XTOs as the alternative. That package is the fast one. Yachting recorded 51.1 knots with five people and two-thirds fuel on the Chesapeake, and Power and Motoryacht saw close to 50 knots on Long Island Sound. Power and Motoryacht also tested a 43 LS with triple Yamaha 425 XTOs at 46.8 knots.

From the 2024 model year Tiara moved to a single power option, twin 600 hp Mercury Verado V12s, and increased fuel from 400 to 540 gallons. Boating's 2025 test recorded 47.1 mph, about 41 knots, at 6,000 rpm with five aboard and 81 percent fuel, while Tiara's own testing with Mercury reached 51.4 mph. Cruise at 4,500 rpm was 34.6 mph, about 30 knots, and at 3,500 rpm and about 20.6 knots the boat has a maximum range of 313 statute miles, roughly 272 nautical miles.

So the twin V12 boat is about 10 knots slower at the top end than the triple 450R boat, but it is simpler (two engines to service instead of three), quieter at cruise and goes noticeably farther. For most owners who cruise at 28 to 32 knots, the twin boat is the better long-term choice.

What a 43 LE costs to run

Plan on $55,000 to $105,000 a year in running costs, excluding depreciation. Insurance on a seven-figure outboard boat, a 45 to 50 foot slip, outboard service and bottom paint are the core items. Outboards are a cost advantage here: no shaft seals, no exhaust risers and no engine room to keep dry, and a dealer can service a Verado on a trailer or at the dock.

Fuel is the real variable. A pair of 600 hp V12s at a fast cruise will burn more than a comparable diesel inboard express, and a triple 450R boat at 40-plus knots drinks heavily. Owners who cruise at moderate speeds and run 100 to 150 hours a year usually find total costs in line with a diesel boat of the same price, because maintenance is lower.

Buying a used 43 LE or 43 LS

The used market splits cleanly by propulsion. Triple-engine boats from 2021 to 2023 usually ask from about $850,000 to $1.15 million, while twin V12 boats from 2024 on ask $1.15 million to $1.5 million. LS models often price slightly below LE models of the same year because the enclosed helm deck costs more to build and is in high demand in northern markets.

Outboard hours matter more than boat age. Ask for Mercury or Yamaha warranty status, the service history of each engine, and whether the boat has a Seakeeper and Mercury's integrated bow thruster. A boat with a balanced set of engine hours and dealer service records is worth a premium over a cheaper boat with gaps.

Our verdict on the Tiara 43 LE

The Tiara 43 LE is one of the most complete outboard express boats built in America. It rides like a heavier inboard boat, it has a cabin and helm deck you can actually live in, and the terrace and rotating lounge make it better at anchor than almost anything its size. Buy an early triple-450R boat if you want 50 knots, or a twin V12 boat if you want range and simpler service. If you boat in warm water and prefer open air, the 43 LS on the same hull is the smarter buy.
