Launched as the 510 Skydeck in 2015 and now sold as the 510 Sky, Galeon's 53-footer mixes a coupe profile with an upper helm, beach mode balconies and a garage, crew cabin or rotating seat aft. Used from about $700,000.
- Owner-operators who want a coupe look with an upper helm
- Couples who host groups for lunch at anchor
- Great Loop and river cruisers needing shallow draft
- Owners who carry a tender in a garage
From 510 Skydeck to 510 Sky, one boat with two names
Galeon revealed the 510 Skydeck as a design project in 2015, built on the same Tony Castro hull as the then-new 500 Fly, and Power & Motoryacht was already showing it to American readers that October. Today the builder lists it simply as the Galeon 510 Sky, alongside the 470 Sky, 570 Sky, 650 Sky and 700 Sky. Listings use both names, so search for Galeon 510, 510 Sky and 510 Skydeck when you shop; they are the same boat.
The idea is a hybrid. Where the 500 Fly carries a full flybridge, the 510 drops a compact top deck behind a large glass sunroof over the lower helm. MBY explained the payoff: a sportier profile, a lower center of gravity and sharper handling, while keeping an outdoor helm with wraparound benches and a lounger either side of the central wheel.
Galeon 510 Sky by the numbers
- Speed to length ratio at cruise
- 3.01A planing cruise. Fast passages in exchange for much higher fuel burn per mile.
- Length to beam ratio
- 3.63 : 1A slim, easily driven hull.
A top deck with its own automatic roof
The feature owners talk about most is the soft roof that deploys over the whole top deck at the push of a button. Jamie Haslund, who bought the 100th Galeon sold in the US, a 510 Skydeck, after the 2018 Fort Lauderdale show, told Yachting it was one of his top reasons for buying: no wrestling with canvas and plastic before a rain shower.
Below it, the main deck is bright. A single-pane windshield gives clear sightlines from the lower helm, a nearly full-width sunroof sits overhead, and the forward side windows lower electrically while the aft side windows slide open beside the galley. The helm seat rotates 90 degrees to join the adjacent seat as a third row at the dining table, which Haslund said lets eight or ten people sit down together.
Garage, crew cabin or spinning seat
Galeon offered three aft arrangements, and they define each boat on the used market. The first is a full-size tender garage under a transom sun pad. The second is a classic L-shaped cockpit sofa with a crew cabin and crew head below. The third is the roto-seat: a cockpit lounge on a track that faces the saloon or spins to look out over the water, combined with a smaller garage.
For most American owner-operators the full garage is the right call, because it keeps a tender and toys out of sight and leaves the hydraulic platform free for swimming. Pick the crew cabin only if a captain will live aboard. Whatever the stern, the drop-down bulwarks widen the cockpit from 14 feet 8 inches to 19 feet 8 inches, with an outward-facing settee on one side and, to port, slots for stools along the galley counter that becomes an alfresco bar.
- Full tender garage with sun pad above
- L-shaped sofa with crew cabin and head below
- Rotating roto-seat with a compact garage
Three cabins built around a midship suite
Below, the 510 sleeps six in three cabins with two heads. The full-beam master amidships has a double berth, a walk-in wardrobe and a private bathroom; Haslund, who lived aboard for part of a winter in Cape Coral, called it intimate and very quiet. The bow VIP sits under a run of skylights, and the third cabin has twin berths that Galeon suggests can become a study or extra wardrobe.
Interiors in the current 510 Sky come in five color schemes, named Ivory, Pearl, Terra, Amber and Ocean, while older boats typically have walnut joinery with pale suede panels. The bow lounge on deck is motorized too: an automated system converts the sun pad into facing seats and levels itself.
D8 or D11, and how fast it really goes
YachtBuyer lists twin Volvo Penta D8-550 shafts as standard, with D11-670 and D11-725 shafts as upgrades, and the UK show boat MBY toured in 2022 had D8-600s rated for 31 knots. Galeon's figures run to about 33 knots with the D11-725s, a cruise around 20 knots, and a range of 418 nautical miles at 8 knots from 476 gallons of fuel. IPS pods were announced at launch, so confirm the drivetrain on any boat you view.
Real-world use backs the numbers. Haslund's boat, with twin 670 hp D11s, ran a smooth 26 to 28 knots on its delivery trip, which included nearly 50 locks on the way up the Mississippi to Minnesota, where bow and stern thrusters let him pivot the boat in place. A shallow draft of about 3 feet 4 inches helps on rivers and in the Bahamas alike.
Running costs and dealer support
Expect roughly $70,000 to $130,000 a year in the US, excluding depreciation. A 55 to 60 foot slip, insurance on a seven-figure boat, twin D8 or D11 services, generator and air conditioning upkeep, the roof mechanism, hydraulics for the platform and balconies, and bottom paint make up the bulk. No independent fuel curve has been published; the shared 500 Fly hull suggests mid-40s gph combined at a 22-knot cruise with D11s, so budget accordingly.
MarineMax has been Galeon's exclusive dealer in the Americas since 2016, which means warranty and service support from Florida to the Great Lakes, and Volvo Penta parts are easy to source. That network is a big part of why the 510 became one of Galeon's most visible models in the US.
Buying a used Galeon 510
Used 510s are scarce. When this guide was written, YachtBuyer tracked one boat for sale worldwide, a 2022 example in the UK at 1,125,000 pounds. Early boats from 2016 to 2018 should start around $700,000 in the US, with the price climbing steeply for later boats with D11 power and the garage stern.
Do not confuse it with the larger 560 Skydeck (built 2014 to 2023) or the 2026 570 Sky. Inspect the moving parts above all: the top deck roof, balconies, bow lounge motor, roto-seat track and garage door are where neglect shows first, and where repairs cost the most.

How much does a Galeon 510 Sky cost?
MBY quoted a starting price of 1,020,000 pounds excluding VAT at the 2022 Southampton show, about $1.3 million at the time, and well-optioned 2026 boats with D11 power land higher. A 2022 boat in the UK was listed at 1,125,000 pounds (about $1.5 million) in 2026. The aft configuration matters on resale: in the US the garage version is the easiest to sell, while D11-725 power, bow and stern thrusters and the hydraulic platform add the most value.

Compare side by sideOur verdict on the Galeon 510 Sky
The Galeon 510 Sky is for owners who want flybridge driving without flybridge bulk. Its automatic top deck roof, big sunroof and choice of three sterns make it unusually adaptable, and the beach mode cockpit with a galley bar is still one of the best entertaining spaces in the 50-foot class. The trade-offs are a smaller upper deck and a long list of mechanisms that need care. Buy a garage boat with D11 shafts and a clean service record, and you get a versatile, eye-catching cruiser that one couple can handle.
