The Pershing 7X is a 69-foot 3-inch Italian sport yacht launched in 2020, built largely of carbon fiber and powered by twin 1,800 hp MAN V12s on Top System surface drives, with a 50-knot claimed top speed and three staterooms.

Pershing yachts for sale, and why the 7X keeps coming up
Browse Pershing yachts for sale in the United States and the 7X appears again and again, usually at Allied Marine in South Florida, usually young, and usually priced somewhere between $3.8 and $4.5 million. There is a reason it has become the default choice. The 7X is the largest Pershing that an experienced owner can still realistically drive, and it is the first model in the range to make carbon fiber the main structural material rather than a trim item.
Pershing announced the 7X in February 2020 as the fourth member of its X Generation, joining the 5X, 8X and 9X. The X Generation began with the 5X in 2016 and focuses on design, technology, performance and ultra-light materials. The 7X replaced the Pershing 70 and, according to Power and Motoryacht, is slightly shorter but a foot wider, more voluminous and nearly five tons lighter when fully fueled. As of fall 2020, Yachting reported that seven had been sold, two of them bound for the Americas, with Hull No. 2 going to New York.

Ninety percent carbon, and what the weight savings buy
Pershing told Yachting that the hull and superstructure are approximately 90 percent carbon fiber. The interior uses Larimar panels with PVC cores and okoume veneer skins, which alone saved about 3,300 pounds over a conventional joinery package. The result is an unladen displacement of about 77,000 pounds for a 69-foot 3-inch yacht with a 17-foot 7-inch beam.
Fulvio De Simoni drew the exterior, as he has every Pershing since 1985, working with the Ferretti Group product committee led by Piero Ferrari. The 7X keeps the X family's curved wings over the side decks, which shelter the walkways and channel the slipstream aft so the cockpit stays clear of spray, plus air-intake bulges in the topsides. Hull No. 1 introduced a new color the yard calls alusilver.
Fifty knots in theory, 49 in a swell
Two sea trials off La Spezia in late 2020 tell the performance story. Yachting's Phil Draper, aboard at about half load with 300 gallons of fuel, 137 gallons of water and six people, saw 48 to 49 knots at 2,250 rpm with the optional Easy Set autotrim, burning 174 gallons per hour. The recommended fast cruise of 42 knots came at 2,000 rpm and 148 gph, which he calculated as about 240 nautical miles of range with a 10 percent reserve. Pershing publishes 300 nautical miles at cruise.
Alan Harper of Power and Motoryacht ran the boat in 5- to 7-foot leftover swells and recorded 49.2 knots at 2,200 rpm, just 50 rpm shy of rated maximum, before conditions made further throttle a bad idea. He praised the hull's handling and its incisive deadrise, which reduces only to 17 degrees at the transom, but described the high-speed wave impacts candidly. Both testers concluded it would be a true 50-knot boat in fair conditions.
For context, Power and Motoryacht's 2014 test of the Pershing 70, with 1,623 hp MTU V10s, produced 46.1 knots.
- Top speed: 48 to 49 knots at 2,250 rpm, 174 gph (Yachting, half load)
- Fast cruise: 42 knots at 2,000 rpm, 148 gph
- Practical range: about 240 nm with reserve at 42 knots; builder quotes 300 nm
- Rough-water run: 49.2 knots at 2,200 rpm (Power and Motoryacht)
Driving it like a smaller boat
The power train is a pair of 1,800 hp MAN V12 1800 diesels feeding Top System T85 surface drives. Draper described a runaway-train sensation, with the boat seeming not to want to stop accelerating, and wrote that Pershings can be handled like boats half their size. The integrated Naviop-Simrad bridge is run from a pair of pilot seats.
For docking, the optional Xenta joystick works in close-quarters and cruising modes, and Pershing also offers a dynamic positioning system that holds the boat in place against wind and current. On a surface-drive yacht this is not a luxury; it is the option that makes owner operation relaxed rather than stressful.
Inside 680 square feet of interior
Yachting measured 680 square feet of interior volume. The main deck combines a 135-square-foot salon and helm under two sunroofs, the forward one sliding open electrically, with a glass aft bulkhead that drops away to join salon and cockpit. Outside there are about 340 square feet of deck, a 75-square-foot swim platform and a 204-square-foot cockpit shaded by the superstructure overhang. The tender garage beneath the aft sunbed takes a Williams 345 Sportjet.
Below, the standard plan has the galley on the lower deck, lit by a single-pane windshield above, and three en suite staterooms: a 172-square-foot full-beam master amidships, a VIP in the bow, and a twin to starboard. Headroom in the cabins runs about 6 feet 5 inches. The alternative two-stateroom plan swaps the twin for a lower-lounge extension of the galley, and the twin's head becomes a day head. A single-berth crew cabin sits between the master and engine room, reached through a hatch under a cockpit sofa cushion.
Decor leans on Italian suppliers including Poltrona Frau, Pellini Nautica, Dedar, Armani Casa and Casamance, in pale and muted tones.
The cost of 50 knots
At 148 gallons per hour at a fast cruise, 150 hours a season means more than 22,000 gallons of diesel. Add a 75-foot slip, insurance on a $4 million carbon yacht, MAN and Top System service, a captain or at least a part-time mate, paint care and electronics, and a realistic annual budget runs about $300,000 to $550,000 before depreciation.
Carbon construction brings its own considerations. Damage repair must be done by yards experienced with carbon laminates, and survey work is more specialized than on a fiberglass hull. Insurers will want to know who maintains the boat.
Reading a 7X listing
Recent asking prices give a good map of the market. Quantum, a 2022 boat, was offered at $3.99 million in 2024. Niki, a 2024 boat with about 250 engine hours, was listed at $3.8 million in late 2025. Barnext, with only 39 delivery hours and full warranties, was listed at $4.45 million in 2025. A sensible 2026 range for most used boats is $3.3 to $4.5 million, with hours, paint and options doing most of the sorting.
Treat layout descriptions in listings with care. Pershing builds the 7X with three staterooms or two plus a lower lounge, and confirm the real arrangement before flying in to see a boat.

How much does a Pershing 7X cost?
Recent Allied Marine listings frame the market: a 2022 7X asked $3.99 million in 2024, a 2024 boat with about 250 hours asked $3.8 million in late 2025, and an essentially unused boat with 39 delivery hours and full warranties asked $4.45 million. New boats cost more once a US spec, paint, joystick and dynamic positioning are added. Hours, paint condition and layout drive most of the spread.

Compare side by sideOur verdict on the Pershing 7X
The Pershing 7X is the purest expression of what Pershing does: a carbon fiber 70-footer that runs close to 50 knots, looks like nothing else at the dock and can still be handled by a skilled owner. It is thirsty, and its carbon structure adds a layer of complexity to ownership, but for buyers who want the fastest practical Pershing rather than the biggest, it is the model to shortlist. Nearly new boats around $3.8 to $4.5 million represent a meaningful saving over ordering one.
