The 84 Azimut in one paragraph

The 84 Azimut is the boat that replaced the Azimut 82 at the top of the builder's mainstream flybridge line in 2012. YachtBuyer records development starting that year, the first hull leaving the line in 2013 and production ending in 2016, although at least one boat on the market is titled as a 2017. It is a four-cabin, crew-of-three flybridge of 84 feet 3 inches with twin big-block diesels, a Jacuzzi on the flybridge and the guest-and-crew separation Azimut had refined over a decade of 80-footers.

Searches for an Azimut 84 for sale or 84 Azimut price are almost always about this model; Azimut has not used the number elsewhere. The closest confusion is with the Azimut 82 it replaced and the Azimut 80 that was built alongside it, both covered on their own pages.

Same numbers as the 82, new clothes

Put the YachtBuyer spec sheets for the 82 and 84 side by side and the core figures match: 84 feet 3 inches overall, 20 feet 4 inches of beam, 1,796 gallons of fuel, 357 gallons of water and 165,346 pounds at full load. Even the standard engine is the same family, a pair of Caterpillar C32 ACERTs rated at 1,700 hp. That strongly suggests the 84 is an evolution of the 82 platform rather than a clean-sheet hull, which is useful knowledge for a buyer because the 82's sea trial notes and known traits carry over.

What changed is the presentation. Achille Salvagni's studio took over the interior from Carlo Galeazzi, the same studio behind the interiors of the 2013 Azimut 80 and the second-generation Azimut 88, with softer forms and lighter palettes. Stefano Righini kept the exterior pen, so the profile still reads as a late-2000s Azimut with large hull windows and an overhanging flybridge. YachtBuyer also lists a waterline length of 68 feet 6 inches and a full-load draft of 5 feet 10 inches.

  • LOA 84 ft 3 in, beam 20 ft 4 in, draft 5 ft 10 in
  • Fuel 1,796 gal, water 357 gal
  • Full-load displacement about 75 tonnes
  • Twin Caterpillar C32 ACERT, 1,700 hp each, standard

Four cabins and private routes for owners and crew

Azimut sold the 84 on privacy. The manufacturer describes reserved routes through the boat so the owner, guests and crew rarely cross paths, and four cabins below: a master, a VIP in the bow with a longitudinal bed, a capiton leather headboard set into a mirrored portal and a panoramic window, and two twin cabins. YachtBuyer counts five guest heads including a day head, with the berth plan listed as one king, one double and four singles.

Crew get two cabins for up to three people and their own head. On a boat this size that matters, because it lets an owner run a captain, mate and stew or chef without converting a guest cabin. Owners chartering the boat privately in the Bahamas or the Med will find the three-crew setup fits the 84's role well.

A 45-square-meter flybridge with a Jacuzzi

Azimut quoted more than 45 square meters, roughly 480 square feet, of outdoor living on the flybridge alone, with a sun deck, Jacuzzi, bar and a relaxation area. The cockpit below uses stainless steel in the flybridge overhang, the eight-seat table and the grabrails, much as on the 82, and the foredeck adds a dinette alongside the sunpads.

The 84 was built for life outdoors more than for speed. Its layout gives three distinct exterior zones, so guests can split between sun on the bow, shade in the cockpit and a party on the bridge without anyone feeling crowded.

Caterpillar as standard, MAN on at least one late boat

YachtBuyer lists twin Caterpillar C32 ACERT diesels of 1,700 hp as the standard package, giving a 29-knot maximum and a 24-knot cruise. A 2017 Azimut 84 Flybridge named Satisfaction, listed by HMY Yacht Sales in late 2025, is described with twin 1,800 hp MAN V12s instead, a 27-knot top speed and a 24-knot cruise that stretches range beyond 300 nautical miles. Whether that was a factory option or a late running change is not documented in the sources we found, so confirm engine make and rating against serial numbers on any 84 you inspect.

We have not found an instrumented test with an rpm-by-rpm fuel table for the 84, so we do not quote a fuel burn. Ask sellers for engine data logs, and compare against the 82's Caterpillar installation, which shares the same displacement and tankage.

What a well-kept 84 carries today

The Satisfaction listing is a useful template for the equipment a buyer should hope to see on a decade-old 84. It includes CMC electric zero-speed stabilizers, an upgraded rudder system, a hydraulic bow thruster, twin 29 kW Onan generators, an Idromar watermaker, a Raymarine GS-series electronics package with a touchscreen on the flybridge, a FLIR night-vision camera, 22 underwater lights and 8 mm teak on the exterior decks.

The same listing shows the kind of refresh an owner does to keep one competitive: new flybridge upholstery and cockpit and saloon TVs, upgraded water heaters, serviced steering rams, passerelle and hydraulic swim platform, plus annual bottom paint, Prop Speed and zincs. A boat with that paper trail is worth more than a cheaper one that has sat.

84 Azimut price and how the market behaves

Supply is thin. YachtBuyer tracked three 84s for sale over a recent three-year window and none at its latest check, with an average of 514 days on the market and an average 7.9 percent cut from first ask. Its price markers sit around $2.4 million and $2.8 million, and the Satisfaction listing asked $2.495 million. That places the 84 above the 82 and below the newer Azimut 80, which is fair given its age and size.

Because comparables are rare, appraisal often leans on 80, 82 and 88 sales. A buyer's broker who knows the Azimut range can use those to argue price, especially on a boat that has been listed for a year.

84, 80 or 88, choosing among Azimut's 2010s flybridges

Between 2013 and 2016 Azimut sold three big flybridges side by side. The Azimut 80 is shorter but newer in concept, with MAN V12s and a 30-knot top end. The 84 offers the most traditional layout at the lowest entry price of the three. The 88 adds about 3 feet 8 inches of length and more beam for buyers who want a yacht that feels like a small superyacht.

If you want the newest design and the strongest resale, the 80 is usually the better buy. If you want space and crew comfort at a lower entry point, the 84 is the value pick. Running costs are similar: plan on a crewed budget in the low to mid hundreds of thousands a year before fuel.

Strengths and weaknesses

What owners like

  • Four cabins plus a day head and crew for three
  • Proven platform carried over from the 82
  • Large flybridge with Jacuzzi and bar
  • Salvagni interior ages better than many 2010s designs
  • Lower entry price than an Azimut 80 or 88 of the same era

What to weigh up

  • Very few boats come to market
  • No independent published fuel curve
  • Engine fit varies, so specifications need checking boat by boat
  • Top speed in the high 20s rather than 30 plus

Our verdict on the Azimut 84

The Azimut 84 is the quiet value play among Azimut's 2010s flybridges. It is essentially a refined 82 with a Salvagni interior, a Jacuzzi flybridge and crew space for three, and it costs less than an Azimut 80 or 88 of the same years. Speed is adequate rather than exciting, published test data is scarce and engine fits vary, so diligence matters. Find one with zero-speed stabilizers, documented engine service and a recent refresh like the 2017 boat listed in Miami, and the 84 delivers a lot of yacht for the money.
