The Azimut 25 Metri, entry ticket to the Grande range

Search "Azimut 25 metri" and you land on two different boats. This page covers the Azimut Grande 25 Metri, the 87-foot flybridge that opened the Grande collection from 2018 until the wider Grande 26M took its place in 2022. The other one, the Magellano 25 Metri, is a slower crossover cruiser from Azimut's long-range line, and we explain the differences further down.

For a US buyer in 2026 the 25 Metri is a used proposition. YachtBuyer estimates roughly 30 hulls were built, and with listings in the $3 million to $6 million band it now costs a fraction of a new Grande 26M. That gap is the whole argument for it: the styling, carbon top and four-cabin layout of a contemporary Italian superyacht-lite, at a price closer to a new 70-footer.

Stefano Righini's trapezoid bow and cut-down bulwarks

The late Stefano Righini drew the exterior, and his trademark is right at the front. The bow is a trapezoid, flat across the top rather than coming to a point, which widens the foredeck for a U-shaped lounge and dinette under an electric surrey top. Righini argued that the flare, hard chine and forward strakes also knock down spray and reduce pitching, and the extra volume below makes a noticeably larger forward VIP cabin.

The second signature is the cutaway gunwale alongside the dining area. Instead of a solid bulwark, the deck edge drops away behind full-height glazing and stainless rails, so seated guests look straight at the water. Toe rails were installed in sections with gaps between them for the same reason. Combined with the carbon superstructure, roll bar, hardtop and transom, the boat looks lighter than its 87 feet.

Four cabins below, galley up, crew aft

Achille Salvagni designed the interior, with curved, fluted bulkheads, colored lacquers from purple to powder blue and a golden handrail on the stair to the lower foyer, its leather wrap stitched on the inside so the seam faces the hand. Two saloon plans were offered: a formal dining table for eight, or a J-shaped sofa around a high-low table. Both keep the galley on the main deck behind a bulkhead with a sliding mirrored window, which suits European crew-run habits and American galley-up preferences alike.

Below, the master spans the full 20-foot-4-inch beam amidships with a centerline king, two walk-in closets and an aft head with a separate toilet compartment and a 44 by 40 inch stone-lined shower. The VIP sits forward with a queen, a second double is to starboard and a twin with a Pullman is to port. Three crew sleep aft in two cabins with their own entrance.

  • Guests: 8 in 4 en suite cabins
  • Crew: 3 in 2 cabins aft with separate access
  • Saloon: formal dining or lounge version
  • Garage: tender up to about 13 feet, plus a hydraulic platform for a two-seat PWC

MAN V12 power and what 28 knots means here

Standard power is a pair of 1,650 hp MAN V12 diesels on shafts, with 1,800 hp MAN V12s as the upgrade. Azimut quoted a top speed of 28 knots and a fast cruise of 24 knots with the bigger engines; a later Yachting story put the top end at 29 knots. YachtBuyer lists a range of about 300 nautical miles at 24 knots. No independent instrumented test with a full fuel curve was published in the US magazines, so treat the builder's numbers as best case.

Fuel capacity is reported at 2,060 gallons by Yachting and about 1,900 gallons by YachtBuyer, a difference worth settling with the builder's documents for the specific hull. Either way, this is a planing boat that wants to run at 20 knots plus or at slow displacement speed, not in between.

Lamborghini helm seats and fly-by-wire steering

Yachting's review opened with a detail that sums up the boat: Lamborghini made the helm seats. The lower helm has a raked windshield, triple Raymarine displays and a monitoring system that handles lighting, bilge pumps, tanks and air conditioning, all mirrored on a tablet. A curved settee to port can be closed off from the helm by an electrically frosting glass divider for night running.

Steering is SeaStar's Optimus electronic power steering, a fly-by-wire system whose lock-to-lock turns and effort can be adjusted, which also removes the hydraulic lines between helm and rudders. Active Trim Control manages running attitude automatically. On the flybridge there is an 8-foot wet bar, a 7-foot dining table and space reinforced for a davit.

Why the 26M replaced it, and how to tell them apart

When Azimut launched the Grande 26M at Cannes in 2022, Power and Motoryacht described it as a direct replacement for the 25 Metri: about the same length but close to two feet wider, on new ZF pod drives instead of shafts, with a main deck master suite and five cabins. MBY added that the 26M's flat stern panels replace the 25 Metri's prop tunnels and that it is measurably faster with the same engines.

So the choice comes down to what you value. The 25 Metri keeps the master below amidships, which some owners prefer for motion comfort and quiet, uses conventional shafts that any yard can service, and costs millions less. The 26M has more volume, a raised wheelhouse and pod efficiency. In listings, the giveaways are the build year, the drives and the number of cabins.

Not to be confused with the Magellano 25 Metri

The Magellano 25 Metri shares the length tag and nothing else. It belongs to Azimut's long-range Magellano line, with a dual-mode semi-displacement hull designed for efficient cruising at moderate speeds, a more upright profile and about 82 feet 9 inches overall according to Azimut's current site. It is still listed in the range in 2026, while the Grande 25 Metri is not.

If a listing says "Azimut 25 metri" without a series name, check for the vertical, almost workboat-style Magellano bow versus Righini's trapezoid. The price difference and the top speed will also give it away.

Buying a used Grande 25 Metri in 2026

YachtBuyer counted eight of the roughly 30 boats listed over three years, spending an average of about 283 days on the market with a typical reduction of around 7 percent from first asking price. Boats have sold mostly in the eastern Mediterranean, with some in the United States, so expect to budget for a transatlantic delivery or a ship-on-deck move if you buy in Europe, plus US import duty if the boat was not previously imported.

Plan on $450,000 to $700,000 a year to run one properly with three crew, insurance, a Florida or Northeast slip, MAN service, and yard periods. The MAN V12s will need their major services around the hours recommended by the manufacturer, and a boat approaching that point should be priced accordingly.

How much does a Azimut Grande 25 Metri cost?

New, typical sail-awayNo longer built
Used, typical asking$3M to $5.6M
Yearly running costs$450K to $700K

YachtBuyer tracked five boats for sale in 2026, built 2018 to 2021, asking $3.1 million to $5.8 million with an average near $4.1 million, and recent sales asked $3.2 million for a 2018 and $3.9 million for a 2020. The 1,800 hp engine option, low hours, updated electronics and a clean charter-free history push a boat to the top of the range. Boats spend under a year on the market on average, so the model is liquid for its size.

Our verdict on the Azimut Grande 25 Metri

The Azimut Grande 25 Metri is the sensible way into Righini and Salvagni era Azimut design. Its trapezoid bow, cut-down bulwarks and carbon top still look current, the four-cabin layout with a full-beam master amidships works, and shaft drives keep maintenance predictable. It gave way to the roomier, pod-driven 26M for good reasons, but at roughly half the price of a new 26M, a well-kept 25 Metri with documented engine hours and a clean carbon structure is one of the better values among late-model 85 to 90 foot Italian flybridges.
