The gap between the 870 and the 960
Searches for the Ferretti 920 almost always mean one boat: the 93-foot flybridge that Ferretti Yachts launched as Hull No. 1 at its Cattolica yard in 2017. Yachting described it as the model that filled the gap between the builder's 870 and its 960 flagship, and it brought the Ferretti Yachts range to 11 models from 45 to 96 feet at the time. It debuted at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2017 and reached the US at Yachts Miami Beach in February 2018.
What made the 920 matter was not its length but its shape. It was the first Ferretti Yachts model built around what the yard called the widebody concept, carrying the full 22 foot 3 inch beam much farther forward than a conventional side-deck design. That decision frees room for a main-deck owner's suite that runs almost the full width of the boat, a layout normally associated with boats well over 100 feet.
The design came from Ferretti Group's Product Strategy Committee and engineering department working with Studio Zuccon International Project, the studio that has styled the brand's range for years. In 2018 the 920 won Best Exterior Styling at the Yacht Style Awards, according to YachtBuyer.
A taller bow and a hull built to carry volume
Ferretti drew a new hull for the 920 with noticeably higher freeboard forward. The builder pitched it as a seakindly form, and the extra height is what lets the main-deck master sit forward with real headroom and big hullside windows. Yachting reported 6 feet 7 inches of headroom in the master, with a recessed bed base that makes the berth appear to float.
Factory figures from Ferretti's 2018 technical sheet give an LOA of 28.49 meters (93 feet 6 inches), a 7 foot 3 inch draft and an unladen displacement of 85,000 kilograms, rising to 99,000 kilograms laden. Tankage is generous for an Italian planing yacht of this size: 9,000 liters (2,378 gallons) of fuel and 1,320 liters (349 gallons) of water.
Ferretti 920 layout options, four or five staterooms
Every 920 has the owner's suite forward on the main deck with a walk-in closet and an en suite head pushed into the bow, leaving the living space aft. The salon, including formal dining for eight, measures about 320 square feet. The enclosed galley sits forward of the salon bulkhead to port, with a day head near the master entrance.
Below, buyers chose between two guest arrangements. The four-stateroom boat (the master plus three guest cabins) has two double VIPs to port with en suite heads and a twin cabin opposite. The five-stateroom version turns the aft VIP's berth athwartships and moves its head from starboard to port, which opens space for a second twin cabin. Crew quarters forward hold three cabins and up to five crew, with two crew heads, and the crew route runs through the galley so service does not cross guest areas.
- Four-stateroom version: main-deck master, 2 double VIPs, 1 twin, 8 guests
- Five-stateroom version: main-deck master, 2 doubles, 2 twins, 10 guests
- Crew: 3 cabins, up to 5 crew, 2 heads
- Ferretti's sheet lists 5 guest bathrooms on the four-cabin boat
Three outdoor zones, and the foredeck is the surprise
The flybridge covers about 564 square feet and was offered in four layouts. Typical boats have an L-shaped wet bar, U-shaped settees amidships, a bench forward to port beside the upper helm, chaise lounges aft and either a bimini or a retractable hardtop. The cockpit, sheltered by the flybridge overhang, seats six to eight at a fixed table.
The foredeck is where the widebody pays off outdoors. Yachting measured 172 square feet that can be shaded, with room for sofas, coffee tables and a sun pad for four or more, which Ferretti called the largest guest space it had ever put on the bow of a hull this size.
Aft, a transom garage folds down into a teak beach, submerges as a swim platform or acts as a slipway for a tender. Ferretti quoted an optional 13-foot Williams jet, and one 2021 boat carries a Williams Sport Jet 395.
Three MTU packages and what each one buys you
All 920s run conventional shafts and MTU 2000-series diesels. The standard pair is the 12V 2000 M96L at 1,948 metric horsepower each. Ferretti's figures give a 22-knot cruise, a 26-knot top speed and a 360 nautical mile range for that package. The 16V 2000 M86 at 2,217 mhp raises those to 24 and 28 knots with 350 miles of range, and the 16V 2000 M96 at 2,435 mhp gives a 26-knot cruise, a 30-knot top end and 340 miles.
Real-world numbers tend to sit below brochure figures once a boat is loaded with toys, crew and full tanks. One 2020 boat on the standard engines was advertised at a 23-knot cruise and 27-knot top speed, while another 2021 boat was listed at 16 knots cruise and 24 knots top, with a stated range of 360 miles at 23 knots. We have not found an independent sea trial with fuel-flow data, so treat every speed claim on a listing as something to verify on your own sea trial.
What a 92-footer costs to keep running
The 920 is a crewed yacht in practice even if a capable owner-operator could handle short hops. Budget $650,000 to $1.1 million a year for a captain and two to four crew, dockage for a 93-foot boat in South Florida or the Med, insurance, MTU service, haul-outs, paint and toy maintenance. Fuel is on top of that, and at planing speeds two big MTUs will burn well over 100 gallons per hour combined.
MTU 2000-series engines have strong dealer support in Fort Lauderdale and across the Mediterranean, but their major services are expensive and should be documented. Check whether the boat has stayed in an MTU maintenance program and when the next major interval falls.
Ferretti 920 for sale, and the arrival of the 940
Ferretti's current flybridge range lists the 500, 580, 670, 720, 800, 860, 940, 1000 and 1000 SkyDeck, and the 920 is no longer among them. Its spiritual replacement is the Ferretti Yachts 940, another widebody design with a main-deck master and a 22 foot 3 inch beam, whose Hull No. 1 Yachting reported on in early 2025. That newer boat moved to MAN V12 engines and five staterooms as standard.
For buyers, that means the 920 is now a pure brokerage purchase. Supply is thin because Ferretti builds few yachts in this size class, so expect to search internationally. Yachting covered a 2020 four-stateroom 920 offered by Allied Marine in Fort Lauderdale for $7.5 million with 1,262 engine hours, and YachtBuyer reported a 2021 hull sold in 2026 from a last asking price of 4.95 million euros after a refit. That spread shows how much location, specification and tax status move the number.
920 or the older 960, which Ferretti makes more sense
The 960 was the brand flagship from 2013 and is three feet longer, but it was built on the stretched bottom of the 881 with a conventional superstructure, a raised pilothouse and side decks. The 920 is newer, has the widebody master and a larger foredeck lounge, and its standard engines are smaller. A 960 offers a clever flooding tender garage and four equal guest cabins at a lower price per foot. If interior volume and a more modern look matter most, the 920 is the stronger buy; if you value side decks and a lower entry price, look at the 960.

How much does a Ferretti Yachts 920 cost?
Engine package is the first price driver, because a 920 with the 2,435 mhp MTU 16V option trades at a premium over boats on the standard 12V engines. US-located boats with American power conversion and low hours ask the most, while Mediterranean boats priced in euros, often VAT-paid, can look cheaper on paper. A 2020 four-stateroom boat was listed at $7.5 million in 2024, and a 2021 hull sold in 2026 from a last asking price of 4.95 million euros.

Our verdict on the Ferretti Yachts 920
The Ferretti 920 is the boat that taught Ferretti how to build a big-yacht master into a 93-foot hull, and that widebody suite is still its best argument on the used market. It is roomy, well tanked and backed by MTU engines that any yard in Fort Lauderdale knows. The catches are a thin brokerage pool, crewed-yacht running costs and brochure speeds that real boats rarely match, so buy on survey and sea trial rather than on spec sheets. A well-kept 16V-powered boat is the pick.
