The Ferretti Yachts 800 is an 80-foot 3-inch, four-cabin flybridge that debuted at Cannes in 2025 to replace the 780. Filippo Salvetti styled it and twin MAN V12-1550 or V12-1800 engines drive it. An unrelated Ferretti 800 was built from 2010.

Best for
  • Owners running with a captain and two crew
  • Families moving up from a 72 to 78-foot flybridge
  • Mediterranean and Bahamas cruising at 20 to 24 knots
  • Buyers who prize a quiet ride over top speed

The new Ferretti 800 and the gap it fills

The Ferretti 800 most buyers are searching for today is the Ferretti Yachts 800 that premiered at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2025, one of nine new Ferretti Group boats at that show. Motor Boat and Yachting said it completes the range renewal Ferretti began in 2018, and Yachting confirmed that it replaces the 780, slotting between the 720 and the 860 in a flybridge range that now runs from 50 to 100 feet.

It measures 80 feet 3 inches overall on a 77-foot 2-inch hull, with a 19-foot 5-inch beam. Ferretti quotes an unladen displacement of 67 tonnes and 77 tonnes laden, 6,400 liters of fuel (about 1,690 gallons) and 1,200 liters of water. There is also an older, unrelated Ferretti 800 from 2010, covered further down, so check the year on any listing.

Salvetti's black frames and cut-down bulwarks

Filippo Salvetti's Bergamo studio gave the 800, 860 and 940 a shared look that Yachting described as a little more masculine than the boats they replace, with bold black framing that breaks the superstructure into blocks, a reference the reviewer likened to Piet Mondrian. Larger hull windows, notches in the bulwarks beside the salon glass, gloss black stanchions and glazed flybridge supports lighten the profile. The hull comes in white only.

Power and Motoryacht's Alan Harper thought it was the sleekest Ferretti yet, but noted a cost: thick mullions and small side windows limit the view from the wheelhouse to the sides as well as aft, so he would helm from the flybridge in crowded water.

A main deck split by pocket doors

This is the heart of the 800. The salon is conventional, lounge aft and a glass-topped dining table for eight forward, with patio-style sliding doors to the starboard side deck that serve as the main guest route to the foredeck. Beyond dining, three spaces can be closed off independently with pocket doors: a portside galley with Siemens appliances and its own side-deck door, a bridge two steps up, and a starboard lobby holding the day head and the stairs to the cabins.

The bridge has two Poltrona Frau pilot seats facing three 27-inch Simrad displays, plus a three-seat booth that doubles as a crew mess. The galley shares the bridge's ceiling height, so it feels tall. The arrangement lets crew work out of sight while guests still reach the cabins and day head. Harper's criticism is the flip side: there is no internal stair to the flybridge, and guests have to pass the crew zone to reach their own cabins.

  • Starboard: patio doors from the dining area to the side deck
  • Port: galley side door for crew, separate from guest routes
  • Forward: semi-raised bridge with booth, closable on passage

Owner's suite, convertible twins and three crew singles

Below are four staterooms and four bathrooms. The full-beam owner's cabin aft of amidships has a forward-facing king set slightly to port to make room for a diagonal vanity desk, with the bathroom (including a bidet) and a walk-in closet across the aft bulkhead to block engine noise. The VIP in the bow has an aft-facing bed, and the two cabins between them have sliding beds that convert from twins to doubles. Motor Boat and Yachting measured headroom of about 6 feet 10 inches in the salon and much the same below.

Crew get three single-berth cabins under the cockpit, linked by a diagonal corridor with a watertight door into the engine room. Separate cabins for three crew are rare at 80 feet and help with crew retention on a busy charter or family schedule.

Flybridge, foredeck and the platform rules

The full-beam flybridge covers about 430 square feet. To port are the stairs, a wet bar with stools and a two-seat helm; to starboard a deep lounger next to the helm and a dining area for eight. The aft third is left open for sun loungers or toys. The optional hardtop shades roughly half the deck and has a louvered glass sunroof that swivels for slatted shade or slides and stacks fully open, supported forward by a slim V-shaped pillar.

The foredeck has a C-shaped dinette under the windshield and a large sunpad island, with an awning on carbon poles. At the stern, the hydraulic platform can lift a 390-kilogram Williams SportJet 395, and once the tender is off, part of the transom folds down to make a wet sofa. Two platform sizes are offered so the boat can stay under France's newer rules for vessels over 24 meters, and there are two Seabob lockers.

What the sea trials actually showed

Engines are twin MAN V12s on straight shafts: the 1,550-hp version for a builder-quoted 27 knots top and 24 knots cruise, or the 1,800-hp version, which Ferretti's site lists at 30 knots top and 26 knots cruise (other published figures say 31 and 27). Hull No. 1 had the bigger engines and a very heavy specification: two 27-kW Cummins Onan generators instead of one, the hardtop, Sleipner Vector fins and two Seakeeper gyros. With ten people, nearly full fuel and two-thirds water, both Yachting and Motor Boat and Yachting saw just under 27 knots flat out.

Ferretti says every tonne over the basic specification costs about a knot, which is the most useful number in this review: spec the boat lightly if speed matters. Motor Boat and Yachting found fuel burn linear with no obvious sweet spot, roughly 25 liters per mile between 18 and 22 knots, and estimated about 200 miles of range at 24 knots with a 20 percent reserve; Yachting put it at about 230 miles with 10 percent. Noise was impressively low at 20 knots: 59 dB(A) at the helm, 64 in the salon and 66 to 67 in the cabins.

The original Ferretti 800 of 2010

Ferretti used the 800 name before. The first version made its public debut at Cattolica in the spring of 2010, designed with Studio Zuccon and recognizable by diagonal superstructure window slits likened to shark gills and, on some hulls, a metallic bronze-brown pilothouse roof. Power and Motoryacht's specifications list 81 feet 2 inches overall, a 20-foot 7-inch beam, 1,783 gallons of fuel and twin 1,800-hp MAN V12-1800 CRM diesels on V-drives, with 31.4 knots on test and 0 to 25 knots in under 25 seconds. Later boats appear with MTU 12V 2000 engines.

Its layout was unusual: a raised helm to port on its own deck, a galley that could hide behind an electric screen, two crew cabins in the bow, and three double cabins below with both master and VIP spanning the beam. Around 30 were delivered at about $5 million each. Today they list at roughly $2.2 million to $2.5 million, and the 850 of 2016 was developed from its hull.

How much does a Ferretti Yachts 800 cost?

New, typical sail-away$5.8M to $7.2M
Used, typical asking$5.2M to $6.8M
Yearly running costs$280K to $480K

Ferretti does not publish a list price for the 800. Our estimate sits below the larger 860, which Motor Boat and Yachting priced at 4.85 million pounds before VAT in 2023 and which now lists at $6.3 million to $7.7 million for 2023 to 2026 boats. Engine choice, the hardtop with louvered sunroof, gyros plus fins, a second generator and Xenta joystick docking add several hundred thousand dollars.

Our verdict on the Ferretti Yachts 800

The new Ferretti 800 is a quiet, beautifully built 80-footer that leans further toward the crewed-yacht experience than the 780 it replaces. Its pocket-door zoning, three crew cabins and big flybridge are real strengths, and noise levels are outstanding. The compromises are visibility from the lower helm and a layout that routes guests past the crew area. Order it with the 1,800-hp MANs, think hard about every heavy option, and it should hold value the way the first 800 did.
