The Alchemy, Absolute's fast 62-footer
Absolute named the 62 Fly "The Absolute Alchemy" and unveiled it out of the water at boot Düsseldorf in January 2019, then showed it afloat for the first time at the Miami Yacht Show that February. It ran until 2023, overlapping with the 58 Fly and the new-generation 60 Fly, and it was nominated for Motorboat of the Year by Italy's Vela e Motore in 2019.
Shoppers type absolut 62 fly as often as the correct spelling, and both lead to the same boat: a 61-foot-2-inch flybridge with a 16-foot-8-inch beam, twin Volvo Penta D11 IPS950 pods and a three-cabin, three-head layout with an optional fourth cabin in the transom. In a line known more for volume than pace, it is also the fastest of the recent Fly models, with BoatTEST recording 32.7 knots.
Because it predates Absolute's forward-owner era, the 62 is the last large Fly with a full-beam master amidships. For many buyers that is a feature, not a flaw.
The last big Fly with a midships master
The cabins are reached by a forward companionway. The owner's suite takes the full beam amidships with plenty of headroom, a lounge area and hull windows on both sides; BoatTEST measured the centerline berth at 78 by 69 inches. Forward, the VIP is nearly as generous, its diagonally set double lit by deep bow windows. A third cabin with twin berths completes the plan, and Absolute stressed that each of the three has its own toilet, shower and an opening porthole.
That gives the 62 a quieter, more stable master than the bow suites on Absolute's later boats, at the cost of the forward views those newer cabins enjoy. With the engines on IPS pods far aft, noise in the master stays low.
Galley at the door, lounge forward, a helm with a view
Absolute placed the galley right at the saloon entrance, so it serves the cockpit and the dining table across from it equally well and gives plenty of cooking and stowage space. Forward, the lounge has facing seating framed by the big, deep sections of glass that define the 62's profile. The boat MBY toured paired dark high-gloss surfaces with light headlinings and furniture.
The lower helm is a strong point: twin chunky seats, superb visibility, room for two large multifunction displays and a side-deck door for shorthanded docking. YachtBuyer's profile simply calls it excellent.
A long flybridge, a foredeck lounge and a choice of aft decks
The flybridge is one long run of seating and space. A central area holds a lounge, bar and barbecue under an optional hardtop, leaving the aft deck open for sunbathing or loose furniture, and Absolute offered several aft-deck layouts. In the cockpit, the galley-aft plan lets the saloon and aft deck work as one space, with a bar counter joining them.
The foredeck has another lounge, with a 5-foot forward-facing bench and a sunpad about 5 feet by 5 feet 2 inches, plus optional shades. It is private at the dock and exhilarating under way.
32.7 knots and 0.6 miles per gallon at 26
Every 62 runs twin 725 hp Volvo Penta D11 engines on IPS950 pods with forward-facing tractor propellers. BoatTEST's boat, at an estimated 71,000 pounds with 56 percent fuel and four aboard, reached 32.7 knots at 2,550 rpm. At 2,200 rpm and 26 knots it burned 46.9 gph, 0.6 nautical miles per gallon, for about 342 nautical miles of range with a 10 percent reserve from 687 gallons.
It is also brisk off the line. BoatTEST timed it onto plane in an average of 7.9 seconds; it began planing at 13.5 knots and was solidly up by 19.3 knots. MBY quoted 32 knots top and a 28-knot cruise, and YachtBuyer described cruising anywhere between 20 and 28 knots depending on mood and sea state.
That combination, low-30s pace with mid-20s economy, is unusual among Absolutes and makes the 62 the one to pick if you cover distance quickly between harbors.
A fourth cabin hidden in the transom
The optional aft cabin can be fitted with twin beds for guests, a captain or children, and a transom window keeps it from feeling like a cave. MBY's walkthrough called it one of the biggest crew cabins you will find on a boat this size. For owner-operators it effectively turns the 62 into a four-cabin boat; for those who hire a captain it means proper, separate quarters.
If the cabin was not ordered, the space serves as a lazarette for water toys and spares. Check which a listing has, because it makes a real difference to value.
Buying a 62 Fly now that it is out of production
Production ended in 2023, and Absolute now covers this size with the 60 Fly and the four-cabin 70 Fly. That leaves the 62 as a used-only buy with a modest number of boats in the US. In 2026 a 2023 example was asking $1,899,000 in Newport, Rhode Island, and YachtBuyer tracked listings around $1.9 million to $2 million. Expect about $1.45 million to $2.1 million depending on year and equipment.
Compared with a new 60 Fly at close to $3 million or more, a late 62 offers similar size, more speed and a traditional midships master for roughly two-thirds of the money. The trade-off is the older deck design without the glass-railed terrace and bow suite.
What it costs to run
Budget $115,000 to $190,000 a year for a 65-foot slip, insurance, two D11 and IPS950 services, generator and air conditioning upkeep, bottom work, canvas and fuel, rising if you add a full-time captain. The D11 and IPS950 combination is widely used in the US, so parts and technicians are easy to find.

How much does a Absolute 62 Fly cost?
A 2023 62 Fly was asking $1,899,000 in Newport, Rhode Island in 2026, and YachtBuyer's market tracking put current listings at about $1.9 million to $2 million. Early 2019 and 2020 boats with higher hours sit lower, while late boats with a hardtop, gyro, the transom cabin and US-spec air conditioning top the range.

Compare side by sideOur verdict on the Absolute 62 Fly
The Absolute 62 Fly is the Absolute for buyers who want to get somewhere. Its IPS950 package delivers low-30s speed and a 26-knot cruise at 0.6 miles per gallon, and it keeps a classic midships master that many owners still prefer to a bow suite. It lacks the glass-railed cockpit and open terraces of the newer Flys, but at around $1.9 million for a late boat it undercuts a new 60 Fly by a wide margin. Find one with the transom cabin and documented pod service and it is a strong value in the 60-foot class.
