From desk model to a 74-foot flybridge yacht
A surprising number of people find the Manhattan 73 while searching for a Manhattan Sunseeker blue painted model ship, the decorative desk and shelf replicas of Sunseeker flybridges sold through gift and nautical decor shops. Those models borrow the look of boats like this one. This guide is about the real thing: a 74-foot 2-inch flybridge yacht built by Sunseeker in Poole, Dorset, between 2011 and 2014.
The Manhattan 73 made its debut at the January 2011 London Boat Show, where Motor Boat & Yachting picked it among the standout launches, and it was a finalist that year in the Asia Boating Awards' best production motor yacht category for 15 to 24 meters. In Sunseeker's lineup of the time it sat below the 80 Yacht and the larger Yacht-series flybridges.
In 2014 Sunseeker replaced it with the 75 Yacht, which shares its principal dimensions, tankage and MAN V12 power, but moved the model into the Yacht line with updated styling. That lineage matters for buyers: a Manhattan 73 is mechanically very close to an early 75 Yacht and usually costs less.
Sunseeker Manhattan 73 by the numbers
- Speed to length ratio at cruise
- 3.11A planing cruise. Fast passages in exchange for much higher fuel burn per mile.
- Horsepower per ton
- 57 hpStrong power to weight for a planing hull.
- Length to beam ratio
- 3.95 : 1A slim, easily driven hull.
A big deep-V with an 18-foot 10-inch beam
YachtBuyer's specification lists the Manhattan 73 at 22.6 meters including the pulpit, a beam of 5.73 meters (about 18 feet 10 inches) and a full-load draft of 1.63 meters, roughly 5 feet 4 inches. Half-load displacement is about 44,900 kilograms, close to 99,000 pounds. Tankage is 5,000 liters of fuel (about 1,321 gallons), 1,200 liters of water and a 185-liter black-water tank.
Those numbers put the 73 in the sweet spot for East Coast cruising. The draft keeps most of the Bahamas and the Intracoastal open, and the weight and deep-V hull give a planted ride at 25 knots in the kind of short, steep chop the Gulf Stream throws up.
Four guest cabins and a separate crew cabin
Below, the layout follows Sunseeker's familiar formula for this size: a full-beam master amidships with en suite, a VIP forward with its own bathroom, and a double and a twin cabin that share a bathroom, which also serves as the day head. The arrangement sleeps eight guests in three doubles and two singles.
Aft of the engine room is crew accommodation for two, reached from the swim platform. On a US boat that is usually a captain's cabin, or an extra bunk room for teenagers when the owner runs the boat.
On the main deck, the salon opens from the aft deck and runs forward to a lower helm with Raymarine electronics and engine and thruster controls on the Miami listing. Up top, the flybridge has a second helm with dual helm chairs, a wet bar with grill, icemaker and fridge, seating and sun pads, and on that boat a hardtop with retractable canopy and a davit for a personal watercraft. A hydraulic swim platform lifts a tender at the stern.
MAN V12 power and expected performance
US-market Manhattan 73s typically carry twin MAN V12 diesels rated at 1,400 hp each, the engines listed on the 2014 boat for sale through Allied Marine. YachtBuyer gives the model's maximum speed as 34 knots, a cruising speed of 25 knots and a maximum range of about 325 nautical miles.
No instrumented magazine sea trial with a speed and fuel table was available to us, so treat those as builder-derived figures. Expect a comfortable fast cruise in the low to mid 20s with the stabilizers working, and a slower 10- to 12-knot passage speed when you want to stretch the 1,321 gallons. Burn at fast cruise will be well into three figures in gallons per hour for the pair.
Many boats have been upgraded with fin stabilizers, such as the Imtra system on the Miami listing, and Yacht Controller wireless docking, both of which make a 74-footer far more manageable for an owner-operator.
- Engines: 2 x MAN V12 1,400 hp (US listings)
- Builder data via YachtBuyer: 34 knots top, 25 knots cruise
- Range: about 325 nm at cruise
- Fuel 5,000 liters (1,321 gallons), water 1,200 liters
Budgeting for a 74-foot Sunseeker
A realistic annual budget is about $200,000 to $380,000 before depreciation. That covers a 75-foot slip in South Florida or the Northeast, insurance, a full-time or part-time captain, MAN service, generator and stabilizer upkeep, teak care and fuel. MAN V12s are common in this size range, so qualified technicians are easy to find in Florida, but major services are expensive. The Miami listing noted a completed 1,000-hour service at about 1,700 hours, a useful reminder to confirm service intervals before purchase.
Teak decks are standard across the swim platform, aft deck, side decks, flybridge and foredeck on many boats, which is beautiful and costly to replace. Factor that in when comparing a boat with original teak against one that has been redecked.
Manhattan 73 versus the 75 Yacht, side by side
Because the 75 Yacht replaced the Manhattan 73 on what is clearly a closely related platform, the two are the obvious cross-shop. YachtBuyer's figures show how little changed in the hardware, which is why the price gap between them deserves scrutiny.
The practical differences are styling, interior design and age. The 75 Yacht carries Z-shaped hull windows and a carbon-effect windscreen surround, a newer interior and later systems, while the Manhattan 73 is two to three years older on average. If a 73 has been well maintained and updated, it delivers most of what a 75 does for less money.
- Length: Manhattan 73 22.6 m including pulpit; 75 Yacht 23.02 m
- Beam 5.73 m and draft 1.63 m on both
- Fuel 5,000 liters and water 1,200 liters on both
- Half-load displacement: 44,900 kg (73) versus 46,400 kg (75)
- Power: MAN V12 1,400 hp on US-listed 73s; MAN V12-1550 standard on the 75
- Builder top speed 34 knots and cruise 25 knots for both
Finding a Manhattan 73 in the US
Only four model years were built, so Manhattan 73 listings are scarce, often one or two worldwide at a time. A 2014 example in Miami Beach has been listed at $1.475 million with refinished floors, refreshed exterior soft goods, a Bose system, Raymarine electronics, stabilizers and a hydraulic passerelle. YachtBuyer's tracker shows a European boat from about EUR 1.7 million.
Our 2026 estimate runs from about $1.15 million for an early boat needing updates to around $1.9 million for a late, low-hour, stabilized example. Compare it carefully with early 75 Yachts: you get very similar running gear and dimensions, so the Manhattan's lower price can be the better buy if its condition is right.

Compare side by sideOur verdict on the Sunseeker Manhattan 73
The Sunseeker Manhattan 73 is a fast, well-proportioned four-cabin flybridge that offers most of the 75 Yacht's hardware for less money. Its scarcity, shared guest head and thirsty V12s are the trade-offs, but a stabilized, well-serviced example is one of the more sensible ways into a mid-70-foot British yacht. Buy on documentation, not on looks, and leave room in the budget for teak and MAN services.
