The 100 foot yacht class, and why the Sunseeker 100 Yacht matters

A 100 foot yacht sits at an important threshold. Below it, many owners still run their boats with two or three crew and fit into ordinary marina slips. Above it, the yacht becomes a small ship with five or more crew, a dedicated captain and a seven figure annual budget. The Sunseeker 100 Yacht, which made its debut in September 2022, is aimed squarely at owners stepping across that line for the first time.

At 98 feet 3 inches overall, the 100 Yacht follows earlier Sunseeker flybridge yachts of similar size but adds a raised pilothouse, an on-deck master suite and a beach club with a garage. It sits in Sunseeker's Manhattan and Yacht family below the 134 Superyacht, and it shares the brand's habit of offering more engine than most rivals, with up to 30 knots available.

How much does a 100 foot yacht cost?

A new 100 foot yacht from a major production or semi-custom builder costs roughly $12 million to $20 million in 2026. A new Sunseeker 100 Yacht typically lands between about $14 million and $17.5 million depending on engines and options. Used 100 ft yachts cover a far wider spread, from about $2.5 million for a well kept 1990s or early 2000s raised pilothouse to $15 million or more for a nearly new European flagship. Sunseeker 100 Yachts on the brokerage market currently ask about $10.5 million to $15.5 million.

The purchase price is only the start. The industry rule of thumb is that running a superyacht costs about 10 percent of its value per year, before depreciation. For a 100 ft yacht worth $12 million that means roughly $1.1 to $1.6 million a year once crew, maintenance, insurance, dockage and fuel are added up.

  • New 100 foot yacht: about $12 million to $20 million
  • Used 100 ft yacht: about $2.5 million to $15 million or more
  • New Sunseeker 100 Yacht: about $14 million to $17.5 million
  • Annual running costs: about 10 percent of value per year

An owner's suite with its own foredeck terrace

The feature that sells the 100 Yacht is forward on the main deck. The full-beam owner's stateroom is reached through the starboard lobby, past walk-in closets and an en suite with a rain shower. Picture windows flank a forward-facing king berth, and six steps rise to a sliding glass door that opens onto a secluded foredeck terrace reserved for the owners. On a yacht this size, a private outdoor space attached to the master is genuinely rare.

The rest of the main deck is conventional and well executed: lounge aft, formal dining forward, galley to port and lobby with day head to starboard, with full-height glass along both sides of the salon. Forward of the pilothouse the boat works on three levels, with the foredeck terrace on top, the owner's suite in the middle and the crew area below.

The lower deck has four en suite guest staterooms for up to 10 guests. Two midships cabins have king berths, and the two forward cabins can be configured as twins or doubles, with Pullman berths available to reach Sunseeker's figure of up to 12 guests.

Flybridge, X-Tend stern and the garage

The upper deck is asymmetric and, in a first for Sunseeker, connects via sloping side decks to the forward terrace with booth seating and sun pads, with a deep foredeck tucked into the bow beyond. The aft flybridge is left open to the owner's interpretation. The boat Yachting reviewed had a hot tub with flanking sun pads, an oval dining table and a three-stool wet bar. An upper helm, wing stations and stern stations are all optional.

At the stern, Sunseeker's X-Tend sun bed folds out of the transom as a swim-platform lounger or rises with balustrades to extend the usable deck, creating a beach club feel. A garage still fits a 15-foot jet tender and a PWC, which is the right toy capacity for a 100 foot yacht used in the Bahamas or the Mediterranean.

  • Asymmetric upper deck linked to a forward terrace
  • Optional hot tub, upper helm, wing and stern stations
  • X-Tend transom sun bed and swim platform lounger
  • Garage for a 15-foot jet tender plus a PWC

Three MTU packages and real-world performance

Sunseeker offers three engine choices, all on shafts: twin MTU 12V 2000 M96L at 1,950 PS each as standard, twin 12V 2000 M96X at 2,000 PS, or twin 16V 2000 M96L at 2,640 PS for up to 30 knots. Yachting's test boat, the fifth hull built, had the standard engines (quoted at 1,920 hp each) and made close to 25 knots through the water, about 26.5 knots over the ground with tide help. At a fast cruise around 17 knots and roughly 2,000 rpm, range was estimated at about 415 nautical miles, and slowing to 10 knots extends that to about 1,500 nautical miles on full tanks. Sunseeker quotes 1,300 nautical miles at 12 knots.

Noise levels are excellent: 62 decibels at the lower helm at full speed and 57 at fast cruise with the doors shut, below normal conversation level. CMC Stabilis Electra fins and an Intruder trim system kept the bow up 3 to 4 degrees and roll in check in a 4 to 6 foot wind-over-tide chop. Fuel capacity is 3,381 US gallons.

Our advice is to choose the 16V engines only if you value speed above all. The standard engines give a comfortable mid 20s top end, lower maintenance and better resale appeal to the broader market.

Crew, charter potential and running costs

The crew area forward has three cabins for five crew plus a crew galley, which is the right number for this yacht. A typical team is a captain, a mate or engineer, a deckhand, a chef and a stewardess. In 2026 those five cost roughly $450,000 to $600,000 a year in salaries. Add maintenance at $150,000 to $300,000, insurance around 1 percent of hull value, dockage of $70,000 to $180,000 in prime US marinas, plus fuel, management and yard periods, and the total lands at about $1.1 to $1.6 million a year.

Charter demand for modern 30 meter yachts is strong, and the 100 Yacht's on-deck master, five staterooms and beach club suit the market well. We estimate weekly base rates of roughly $100,000 to $140,000 plus expenses in the Mediterranean, Bahamas and Caribbean. Ten or more charter weeks a year can recover a significant share of running costs, though rarely all of them.

Buying a used 100 ft yacht for sale in Florida

Florida is the largest market for 100 ft yachts for sale in the US, and Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach brokers will usually have a Sunseeker 100 or close rivals available. For a nearly new 100 Yacht, check warranty transfer, engine package and US electrical specification. Sunseeker's American dealer network is extensive, which matters when you need warranty work done close to home.

If the budget does not stretch to a near-new European flagship, the classic alternative is an older American 100 to 112 foot raised pilothouse such as a Westport 112, which delivers similar space for a third to half the price, at the cost of older systems and a dated style.

How much does a Sunseeker 100 Yacht cost?

New, typical sail-away$14M to $17.5M
Used, typical asking$10.5M to $15.5M
Yearly running costs$1.1M to $1.6M

The engine choice is the biggest single variable on a Sunseeker 100 Yacht, because the 16V MTU package that unlocks 30 knots adds significant cost and weight. Upper helm, hot tub, stern stations, interior finish and the US electrical specification move prices further. Early 2022 and 2023 hulls are now entering the brokerage market, and boats sold through the Florida dealer network with US warranty support command a premium over European imports.

Our verdict on the Sunseeker 100 Yacht

The Sunseeker 100 Yacht is one of the most complete 100 foot yachts on the market. The private foredeck terrace off the owner's suite is a genuine differentiator, the beach club and garage cover water sports properly, and the yacht is quiet and fast with up to 30 knots on tap. Budget about 10 percent of its value every year to run it, choose the engine package carefully, and it will reward owners who want British performance with superyacht comforts.
