Why the Princess X95 was a bold bet for Plymouth
For decades Princess built handsome, understated flybridge yachts that rarely surprised anyone. The Princess X95 broke that pattern. Developed in-house with naval architecture from Olesinski and styling in collaboration with Pininfarina, it had a virtual launch in the summer of 2020 and introduced what Princess calls the Super Flybridge. Alan Harper, testing it for Power and Motoryacht, called it an extraordinary step into the unknown for a yard known for conservative design.
The X95 belongs to the widebody movement that swept the sub-100-foot market around 2020, alongside projects from Sunseeker and Azimut. The principle is simple. A raised wheelhouse lets the enclosed main deck run almost the full length of the yacht, and the upper deck can then run almost the full length as well. The result is a 95-foot yacht with the deck area and volume of something considerably bigger, and a model that later spawned the smaller X90 and X80.

What the Super Flybridge layout gives you
The heart of the X95 is the upper deck. The wheelhouse and an enclosed, climate-controlled sky lounge form an island with open relaxation areas both forward and aft. An internal staircase connects the main salon to the sky lounge, so guests move between decks without going outside. Headroom on the main deck is about 6 feet 9 inches, and there is barely less in the sky lounge and the lower deck guest cabins.
Forward on the upper deck there is space for a hot tub or a sunbed, and aft there is room for dining and loungers. The height above the waterline gives exceptional privacy and views, but it also exaggerates roll, which is why stabilizers matter so much on this boat.
- Enclosed sky lounge linked to the main deck by an internal stair
- Open upper deck areas both forward and aft
- Optional bow hot tub or sunbed
- Main deck headroom of about 6 feet 9 inches
Owner's suite choices, beach club and the Vista update
Princess offers an unusual number of layout options. The original test boats had a main deck owner's cabin forward with windows on three sides, reached by a corridor past the galley. That suite can be swapped for a forward entertainment lounge or a country kitchen with an open galley. Below, the typical plan has a full-beam stateroom amidships, a forward stateroom with walk-in wardrobe, and port and starboard guest cabins with twin beds or an electrically converting double.
Aft, the articulated swim platform can be extended nearly 20 feet beyond the transom and moved up as well as down, and one option turns the stern into a beach club. The current X95 Vista adds a new bow design language that opens the forward structure, lengthens the profile visually and gives the main deck a forward window with views over the bow. Furniture comes in Rovere oak as standard, with ash, silver oak and walnut options.
Sea trial in a Plymouth gale
Power and Motoryacht tested the second X95 out of Plymouth in September 2020 in a steady 20 knot breeze gusting over 30, with 6 to 7 foot seas outside the breakwater. Running into the waves at 16 to 18 knots, impacts were manageable and vertical accelerations well damped, although the beamy bow threw heavy spray over the windshield. With a heavy load of fuel and water, the boat recorded a two-way average top speed of just under 24 knots, inside the builder's published margin.
Princess now quotes a maximum speed range of 19 to 22 knots, depending on engine choice and load. The original X95 came with a single engine option, twin 1,900 hp MAN V12s on conventional shafts, and the current specification adds twin MAN V12-2000s. Princess rates the V12-1900 boat at 19 to 21 knots and the V12-2000 boat at 20 to 22 knots. The hull uses broad aft sections and modest transom deadrise for lift and efficiency, with a short wave-piercing entry forward. Princess recommends running the Sleipner fin stabilizers at all speeds above 8 knots.
Tankage, range and efficient cruising
Fuel capacity is 3,650 US gallons, or 13,818 liters, which is generous for a 95-foot planing yacht and the basis of Princess's claims about long distance capability. Water is 492 US gallons and black water 192 US gallons. Princess does not publish an official range in its current specification, so buyers should ask for the factory fuel curve for the engine package fitted.
Fuel burn climbs steeply as you approach the top of the speed range, so owners who do long passages slow down and treat the X95 as a semi-displacement voyager, which is where its comfort and economy shine.
Crew, charter and what the X95 earns
Princess designs the standard crew quarters for three, with an en suite captain's cabin, a twin bunk cabin, a mess and a bathroom, and offers a three-cabin arrangement for up to six crew. Many busy programs run four to five crew, a captain, a mate or engineer, a deckhand, a chef and a stewardess, which makes the larger crew option worth seeking on a used boat. The sky lounge, two outdoor upper deck areas and the beach platform add service points compared with a classic 95-foot flybridge, so do not try to run the boat too lean if you entertain often.
For charter, the X95's volume and modern layout make it competitive with older 30 to 33 meter yachts. We estimate weekly base rates around $95,000 to $130,000 plus expenses in the Mediterranean and Asia Pacific. The main deck owner's suite and the enclosed sky lounge are the features charter brokers highlight first.
- Crew: 4 to 5, roughly $380,000 to $520,000 per year in salaries
- Estimated charter rate: $95,000 to $130,000 per week plus expenses
- Strong demand from charter clients in Asia, the Mediterranean and the Caribbean
Princess X95 price and annual running costs
A new Princess X95 typically sells for about $14.5 million to $17.5 million in 2026, depending on engine choice, layout and options. Used examples from 2020 onward generally ask between $9.5 million and $14.5 million. Princess X95s for sale in Singapore, Hong Kong and elsewhere in Asia appear regularly because the model sold well there, winning Boat of the Year at the 2023 Japan International Boat Show and awards from the Oceanway China Yacht Awards. A US buyer importing one should budget for shipping, US import duty of about 1.5 percent and conversion of any non-US electrical specification.
Annual running costs follow the 10 percent rule. A yacht worth around $12 million will cost about $1.1 to $1.6 million a year to operate, with crew salaries taking the largest share, then maintenance, insurance, dockage and fuel. North American specification boats come with air conditioning and an upgraded generator as standard and electric cooking instead of gas, which simplifies US ownership.

Figures come from builder documentation and independent tests where available. Displacement is usually quoted light, so a loaded cruising boat will weigh more. Compare these specs with another model.
How much does a Princess X95 cost?
Layout choices drive X95 values more than age. Boats with the main deck owner's stateroom and the stern beach club usually command more than those with the forward entertainment lounge, and the US specification with upgraded generators and air conditioning matters to American buyers. Asian market hulls, including the many sold through Singapore and Hong Kong dealers, can be good value but need careful checks on electrical specification, import costs and shipping.

Compare side by sideOur verdict on the Princess X95
The Princess X95 is the boldest yacht Princess has built and one of the most livable 95-footers on the water. The Super Flybridge delivers a sky lounge, outdoor space fore and aft and a main deck that feels like a 35 meter yacht, while the hull shrugs off rough water. It is not fast by Princess standards and the height makes good stabilizers essential, but for owners who value space and entertaining over outright speed it sets the benchmark in its size.
