The Azimut 60, later sold as the Fly 60, is a three-cabin, 60-foot flybridge launched in 2017 with Volvo D13 or MAN power and a 31-knot top end. An earlier Azimut 60 of 2011 to 2017 shared the 58's hull.

Best for
  • Owner-operators who want design flair at 60 feet
  • Families needing three cabins and crew space
  • Bahamas and Keys cruising
  • Buyers who prefer shafts over pods

Which Azimut 60 is in the listing?

The Azimut 60 search results mix two quite different yachts, and brokers often call both of them the 60 Fly. The first Azimut 60 appeared at the Genoa show around 2011 and, according to Power & Motoryacht, was built on the hull and MAN machinery of the outgoing 58, with a longer hydraulic platform and other updates. The second, launched in 2017, is a new design with a new hull, a carbon fiber superstructure and an interior by Achille Salvagni; YachtBuyer later lists it as the Fly 60.

This page focuses on the 2017 boat, the one most people mean when they search for a 60 foot Azimut for sale today, with a full section on the earlier model. The Fly 60 is no longer on Azimut's website; its slot is now filled by the Fly 62, launched at the 2024 Cannes Yachting Festival with Volvo IPS pods and a fold-down beach cockpit.

A new hull under a familiar Righini profile

From the outside the 2017 Azimut 60 looks like a natural evolution of Stefano Righini's work for the yard: fins at the back of the flybridge, mirrored glazing, the squared-off foredeck that widens the area around the windlass. Underneath, Motor Boat & Yachting stressed that it is more than a refresh, with a brand new hull developed by Azimut's R&D department and Pierluigi Ausonio and a waterline length of 48 feet 7 inches. YachtBuyer lists the superstructure as carbon fiber, part of Azimut's push to save weight high up.

The design collected silverware quickly. It won Best Layout in the 18.5 to 24 meter class at the 2017 World Yachts Trophies and was named Motorboat of the Year by Vela e Motore in 2017, then reached the finals of the 2019 Motor Boat Awards.

Forty-four curves and a lot of personality

Salvagni had mostly designed interiors for yachts over 80 feet before this project, and he brought that confidence down to 60 feet. Azimut says there are 44 separate curves in the interior. Sofa bases, tables and galley counters all have rounded edges, the saloon sofas sit on gold bases, brass spotlights hang over the dinette and the VIP gets a green velvet headboard with pearl-like reading lights. In the master, an oval storage unit with toy-chest handles dominates the starboard side opposite an athwartships bed.

Motor Boat & Yachting called it bold and opinion-splitting, and also practical: nothing sharp to fall against at sea, and every bed lifts on struts over a lined storage void. Its one real complaint was a shortage of dedicated handholds; on the test boat, the dinette backrest was already marked by hands. If you are viewing a used Fly 60, check whether a previous owner has added grab rails, because it suggests the boat has been used offshore.

The main deck puts the galley amidships to port with the dinette raised opposite, a lounge aft and the helm forward. On the starboard side, the window runs floor to ceiling and the bulwark is cut down so diners can see the water.

Three outdoor rooms, including a real foredeck lounge

Azimut described the bow lounge as a revolution for a yacht this size: the sun pads convert so that two big sofas face each other around a table, shaded by a Bedouin-style canopy that stows in a void below the windscreen bench. Motor Boat & Yachting singled out the aft end of the flybridge, where Azimut fitted proper fixed low seating rather than leaving an empty deck for loose furniture, as one of the best places on the boat.

The flybridge itself carries the helm, a sun pad and a dining area, with an optional hardtop and sunroof that most US boats have. The cockpit is shaded by the flybridge overhang and reachable from both sides of the bathing platform.

  • Foredeck lounge with facing sofas and stowable canopy
  • Flybridge dining area and helm under an optional hardtop
  • Fixed aft flybridge seating with an optional grill
  • Hydraulic swim platform for the tender

Volvo D13 or MAN i6, and how the 60 drives

YachtBuyer lists twin Volvo Penta D13-900s as the standard engines, with MAN i6-800s as the alternative, both on straight shafts. Motor Boat & Yachting tested the Volvos and reached 31 knots, noting it takes a while to get there, and found the boat comfortable at 25 knots, where it measured 86 dB(A) in the cockpit. YachtBuyer gives a 26-knot cruise and a maximum range of 779 nautical miles at 8 knots. Listings for some 2022 and 2023 boats show D13s rated at 1,000 hp, so read the engine plates rather than the brochure.

The electro-hydraulic steering increases rudder angle at low speed for a tighter turning circle and firms up as speed rises. The tester found it light to the point of lifeless at times, but easy work for a 36-ton boat. The optional Xenta joystick, which blends the props and thrusters, did not win him over: he suggested saving the money on a boat that already has fore and aft thrusters.

We could not find an independent rpm-by-rpm fuel table for the 2017 boat. A 2020 Fly 60 offered through MarineMax was described as cruising around 26 knots with a 360-nautical-mile range at about 21 knots, which is a realistic planning figure.

The first Azimut 60, 2011 to 2017

The earlier 60 is a better documented boat at sea. Power & Motoryacht's January 2013 test, with twin 800 hp MAN R6 engines, recorded a two-way top speed of 32.0 knots at 77.7 gph, 26.1 knots at 51.8 gph and 21.8 knots at 40.7 gph, and the tester judged the most efficient fast cruise to be around 22 knots. With 15.5 degrees of transom deadrise, it planed happily down to 15 or 16 knots and reached 20 knots in 15 seconds.

It has three cabins and two heads, a split-level saloon with an open galley and a single centerline helm seat, and a two-berth crew cabin with a transom door. Yachting's 2013 Florida test boat had optional Seakeeper gyros and a limed oak interior. These boats now ask roughly 700,000 to 1.1 million euros in Europe, and a 2014 example was listed in the US at $929,500.

Fly 60 prices and the cost of keeping one

Late Fly 60s hold their value well. Yachting reported a 2022 boat listed at $2.15 million and 2020 examples at $1.59 million and $2.199 million, and European asking prices for 2018 boats run from about 1.05 to 1.3 million euros. Expect most US transactions on 2017 to 2023 boats between about $1.15 million and $2.2 million.

Owner-operated in Florida, plan on roughly $110,000 to $190,000 a year including slip, insurance on a $1.5 million-plus boat, a haul-out, engine and generator service, gyro maintenance and canvas. Many owners hire a part-time captain for deliveries and bigger trips, which adds to the bill.

How much does a Azimut 60 Flybridge cost?

New, typical sail-awayNo longer built
Used, typical asking$700K to $2.2M
Yearly running costs$110K to $190K

Two boats share the name. Late Fly 60s are the expensive ones: Yachting reported a 2022 boat listed by MarineMax at $2.15 million and 2020 boats at $1.59 million and $2.199 million, while 2018 examples in Europe ask about 1.05 to 1.3 million euros. The 2011 to 2016 Azimut 60 built on the 58 hull is a different, older boat; a 2014 example was listed in the US at $929,500. Engine choice, Seakeeper, hardtop and hours drive the spread.

Our verdict on the Azimut 60 Flybridge

The 2017 Azimut 60 is the flybridge to buy if you want your boat to feel designed rather than assembled. Salvagni's curved, colorful interior is safer underway than it looks, the foredeck and aft flybridge seating are among the best in the class, and the Volvo or MAN shaft installation keeps ownership straightforward. It is not the roomiest or the quickest 60, and the decor will not suit everyone, but late, well-kept boats are holding their value. If your budget points to the older MAN-powered Azimut 60 instead, buy it for its proven hull and simple engineering, and do not expect the newer boat's personality.
