Yellowfin 54 price and the flagship's place in the range

Anyone looking at the biggest Yellowfin boat for sale starts with the price, and the honest answer is that it has moved a lot since launch. When Sport Fishing tested the 54 in early 2021, package prices started at $1.4 million. A year later, the owner of a custom flybridge 54 told Power and Motoryacht he had spent $2.25 million on his build. Yellowfin does not publish prices, but with quad Mercury V12 power and the standard equipment added in the 2025 update, we estimate most new boats land between about $2 million and $2.7 million.

For that money you get Yellowfin's flagship. The 54 debuted at the Miami International Boat Show in February 2020, eclipsing the 42 as the largest boat Wylie Nagler had built, after a development program that Salt Water Sportsman said took several years. In 2026 Yellowfin added a 48 Offshore between the 42 and the 54, which gives buyers a slightly smaller overnight-capable alternative.

Fifteen feet of beam on a stepped running surface

The 54 is a stepped deep-V with 22 degrees of transom deadrise and a 15-foot beam. Launch specs listed 27,000 lb with quad outboards and a draft of about 2 feet 1 inch to 2 feet 4 inches. After the 2025 update, Yellowfin lists the boat at about 30,000 lb with power and a light fuel load, and says lightweight construction includes an outer layer of carbon fiber and Plexus structural bonding.

Power and Motoryacht's Charlie Levine compared the 54's footprint and beam-to-length proportions with the big custom sportfishermen it sometimes docks beside, and noted what the center console adds: more speed, a shallower draft and room for up to 20 people on the flybridge version he rode. Testers consistently describe it lifting onto plane with almost no bow rise, cornering tightly and shrugging off 3-foot seas at well over 30 knots.

The 2025 update made stability a headline. A Seakeeper Ride 1275 system with four controllers across the transom is now standard, and Yellowfin presents the updated boat with a Seakeeper 9 gyro, which the builder says reduces roll by up to 85 percent; a gyroscopic stabilizer still appears on the options list. Early test boats used Quick gyros.

  • LOA 54 feet, beam 15 feet
  • Draft about 2 feet 4 inches with motors trimmed up
  • About 30,000 lb with power on current boats
  • Fuel 1,013 gallons after the 2025 update (900 at launch)
  • Quad outboards up to 2,400 hp on current boats

Quad Yamaha and quad Mercury V12 numbers

Karl Anderson tested an early boat with four Yamaha 425 XTOs, 500 gallons of fuel, full water and four crew. It reached 60.8 mph flat out, burning about 152 gph, and its efficient sweet spot came at 5,000 rpm and 50 mph on 97.1 gph, or 0.52 mpg. He made a telling comparison: a large sportfisherman cruising at 30 knots on 100 gph covers 300 miles in about 10 hours, while the 54 would make the same trip in about seven hours on roughly 700 gallons.

Sport Fishing's 2022 buyers guide listed a boat with quad 600 hp Mercury Verado V12s at 67 mph at 6,400 rpm with two people and full fuel, and a maximum range of 470 miles at 40 mph and 4,000 rpm, or 0.58 mpg. Levine's run on Patriot, also on quad V12 600s, saw a comfortable cruise in the 40-knot range at about 4,500 rpm, a best of 56 knots running with the current, and 0.5 to 0.6 mpg at cruise. Yellowfin says current boats on quad 600s approach 70 mph.

Those figures put real numbers on the 54's appeal and its cost. It gets you offshore much faster than a diesel sportfisherman, but at 50 mph it still burns close to 100 gph. Early boats were offered with quad or quint power and a 3,000 hp rating; the current rating is quad outboards up to 2,400 hp.

A real cabin under the console

The cabin is what separates the 54 from Yellowfin's open tournament boats. Beneath the console there is stand-up headroom, an air-conditioned space with a queen berth forward flanked by two hanging lockers, a large stand-up shower and head with vanity, and a galley with a stainless sink, refrigerator and storage. Aft, a U-shaped lounge with a high-low table converts to a full berth, and a Pullman bunk was offered as an option.

A diesel generator is standard; the 2021 test boat used a Mase 4 kW unit under the second-row seating. The aft cabin seat lifts to reach an equipment room under the helm deck housing batteries, wiring and electronics components, with the gyro mounted on centerline. Patriot's owner took a different path, using inverters charged by the outboards and lithium batteries to run the boat for about 12 hours with engines off, eliminating the generator altogether.

Levine's take on the accommodations was realistic: comfortable for a nap or an overnight to the canyons, but most owners will still book a hotel on a Bahamas trip.

Helm, seating and a deck built for big fish

Fishing equipment is serious. The transom carries a 100-gallon livewell with two lids that can run as one tank or two, flanked by tuna tubes, and total livewell capacity is listed at 150 gallons. The cockpit sole holds a transverse fish box of more than 800 quarts aligned with the tuna door, and Anderson counted more than 50 rod holders on his test boat. Under-gunwale recesses hold five dive tanks on each side.

The helm is laid out like a small yacht's: a three-sided glass windshield, a dash with room for three 24-inch displays, digital switching run from the screens, and four helm chairs with a second row behind. Seating for at least 14 was standard at launch, with bow V-lounges and a console-front lounge.

The July 2025 update added more: a redesigned second-row leaning post with an option for eight helm chairs, an integrated ice maker rated at up to 750 lb a day, standard composite teak flooring, Aegis single-switch power management, lithium batteries, the largest 12-volt bow thruster on the market by Yellowfin's account, watertight acrylic glove boxes, and a new fuel manifold for switching between saddle and center tanks along with more than 100 extra gallons of capacity.

Patriot and the flybridge 54

One 54 shows how far owners can push the platform. Jim Hill, moving up from a 42 Yellowfin bought in 2018, asked Nagler to design a flybridge for his family of eight. Nagler lofted the lines himself, and the result, Patriot, combines the 54 hull with a proper bridge, U-shaped seating, a center helm and a leaning post built into the rocket launchers, all on quad Mercury V12 600s. It is a one-off, but it explains why some buyers see the 54 as a replacement for a 50 to 60-foot convertible rather than a bigger center console.

Owning a 54, from fuel bills to resale

Budget for yacht-scale costs. Quad outboard service, gyro and generator maintenance, insurance on a $2 million boat, a 55 to 60-foot slip or a high-and-dry rack where one exists, plus electronics and canvas, add up to roughly $120,000 to $260,000 a year before fuel, and more with a full-time captain. Fuel at 0.5 to 0.6 mpg makes a 300-mile day roughly a 500 to 700-gallon day.

Used 54s are still relatively scarce because the model only arrived in 2020. Early boats generally sit between about $1.3 million and $1.85 million depending on power and options, and recent boats with the 2025 updates command more. Expect buyers to pay a premium for quad V12 power, the larger fuel capacity and the Seakeeper Ride system.

Our verdict on the Yellowfin 54 Offshore

The Yellowfin 54 Offshore takes the brand's stepped-hull, fish-first formula into super console territory and does it convincingly. It runs in the 60s on quad outboards, carries more than 1,000 gallons, fishes like a tournament boat and gives the crew a real air-conditioned cabin. It is expensive to buy and to feed, with sportfisherman-level fuel bills, but for owners who want to cover offshore water faster than any diesel convertible while keeping outboard simplicity, the updated 54 is one of the most capable boats in its class.
