The Regal 43 SAV is five boats arranged front to back
Boating's 2025 test of the Regal 43 SAV described it as a boat that reveals itself in five distinct zones, each with its own job: a sandbar platform at the stern, a fishing cockpit, a summer kitchen, a glass-cockpit helm and a social bow. The reviewer called it one of the most well-thought-out, well-executed boats he had tested, which is high praise for a model that tries to do so much.
The 43 sits between the new 34 SAV and the 50 SAV flagship in Regal's Sports Activity Vessel family, a line that took off when the 38 SAV became Regal's bestselling boat ever, according to Yachting. BoatTEST lists the 43 as a 2024 model, and Regal's factory performance reports for it date from 2024 onward.
Regal is a family builder in Orlando, Florida, founded in 1969 by Paul and Carol Kuck. That matters on a boat with this many systems: it is designed, built and supported in the US, and parts and service flow through Regal's own dealer network.
Terraces for the sandbar, a deep cockpit for the canyon
At the stern, large terrace doors to port and starboard lower to add nearly 50 square feet to the cockpit, according to Boating. Twin settees face each other, ice boxes sit on either side (one doubles as an ice maker) and a 43-inch TV swings down from the hardtop. The swim platform is unencumbered, the boarding ladder opens outboard away from the engines, and there is a dedicated locker for a stern anchor, a small touch beach boaters will love.
Raise the terraces and the same area becomes a deep, secure fishing cockpit. Each terrace has a large dive door for boarding or pulling in a fish. Two pressurized 30-gallon livewells sit at the transom, twin 60-gallon fish boxes are under the floor, rod holders line the transom and gunwales, and rocket launchers sit at each corner of the hardtop. A wood rigging table and outriggers are options.
Power and Motoryacht's walkthrough summed up the balance well: a pleasure boat you can truly fish, and vice versa.
A summer kitchen amidships and Garmin screens in the armrests
Forward of the cockpit is the summer kitchen. A cutting board covers a deep sink, a pair of electric grills sit alongside, and twin pull-out drawer refrigerators sit below with storage drawers between. A 16-inch Garmin display overhead is flanked by wireless phone chargers and speakers, and the helm seats pivot 180 degrees to face it. PMY noted that this galley doubles as a rigging station.
The helm is dominated by a pair of 22-inch Garmin touchscreens with a custom Regal interface. The same information appears on the aft screen, the kitchen display and Regal's GarmRests, Garmin screens built into the helm armrests so the skipper can adjust autopilot, radar or music without reaching forward. A Seakeeper 4 gyro comes standard, and Regal's optional LivePower system manages battery, inverter and generator power automatically.
A cabin with more than 6 feet of headroom
An electric door to the left of the helm opens to a cabin with more than 6 feet of headroom, lit by a large portside window forward and twin rectangular windows amidships. Forward couches convert to a queen-size berth. Aft, under the helm deck, a full-beam stateroom has two twin innerspring mattresses that become a king with a headboard filler. The head has a full-size toilet, a glass vessel sink and a clear shower partition.
Boating's spec block gives 6 feet 6 inches of maximum cabin headroom. That is unusual on an outboard boat of this type and makes the 43 a genuine overnighter for two couples, though there is only one head.
Three outboard packages and what each delivers
Regal offers twin Mercury Verado 600 V12s, triple Yamaha XTO F450 V8s or triple Mercury Verado 600s, with a maximum of 1,800 hp. Boating's triple Yamaha test boat neared 53 mph in 2 to 3 foot seas, and the reviewer credited both the deep-V OceanTrac2 hull and Regal's construction, which vacuum-infuses hull and stringers together with carbon fiber in key areas, for a smooth, confident ride.
Regal's factory reports show the spread clearly. Triple Mercury 600s at 28,820 pounds reached 63.0 mph at 6,100 rpm and ran 38.1 mph at 4,000 rpm on 53.0 gph, 0.72 mpg, reaching 30 mph in just 7.3 seconds. Triple Yamaha 450s at a heavier 31,224 pounds reached 52.5 mph, with 32.7 mph at 4,000 rpm on 49.1 gph. Twin Mercury 600s at 28,477 pounds reached 51.6 mph and returned 40.4 mph on 56.1 gph, also 0.72 mpg, at 5,000 rpm.
For most owners the twin Mercury 600s are the smart choice: nearly the same price as the Yamaha triples, comparable cruise economy, one fewer engine to service and a cleaner transom. Choose the triple Mercurys only if you want to run at 50 mph plus with a full load.
What a 43 SAV costs to run
Budget roughly $90,000 to $160,000 a year for insurance, a 45 to 50 foot slip, service on two or three large outboards, generator and Seakeeper maintenance, electronics, bottom work and fuel for 100 to 150 hours. At about 50 gph at cruise, a busy season can easily run $40,000 or more in fuel alone.
Boating noted two practical gripes to check on any boat: anchor rode access from the windlass locker can be awkward, and the deep transom lazarette may be hard to reach for less agile owners.
Buying a nearly new 43 SAV
With production starting in 2024, used boats are only a year or two old and still under much of their warranty. Prices reflect engine package and options more than age. Ask which Regal performance report applies to the boat in front of you, confirm the remaining Mercury or Yamaha warranty, and have the systems, including the terraces, Seakeeper and LivePower, demonstrated at the dock.

A more traditional center console with strong resale and less cabin.
Compare side by sidePursuit OS 385 Offshore
Smaller and cheaper, with a similar fish-and-cruise brief.

Boating's chosen rival at $1,341,804 with quad Mercury 350s, but with a smaller beach platform.
Our verdict on the Regal 43 SAV
The Regal 43 SAV is one of the most complete outboard dual-purpose boats on the market: a canyon-capable fishing cockpit, terrace doors for the sandbar, a summer kitchen, a Seakeeper and a cabin that sleeps two couples. Regal's own tests show strong speed and similar cruise economy across all three engine packages, which makes the twin Mercury 600s the sensible pick. It is expensive to buy and run, but for a family that wants one boat to do everything, few rivals match it.
