How the Alegria 67 moved Fountaine Pajot into yacht territory

The Alegria 67 is the boat that took Fountaine Pajot from big cruising catamarans into the yacht market. Launched in 2018 and first promoted as the New 67, it was the largest boat in the La Rochelle builder's range and the flagship of its new Flagship division. Multihulls World places it in the same design generation as the Saona 47 of 2017 and the Astrea 42, all drawn by Berret-Racoupeau with the brand's family look.

The market answered quickly. At the Miami International Boat Show in 2019 the boat drew crowds, Flagship director Yves de Kerangat said that more than twenty were already on order, and Multihulls World later reported nearly forty Alegria 67s ordered. That is a remarkable number for a catamaran of this size and price.

The Alegria 67 stayed on the builder's website through 2025 alongside the bigger Thira 80, whose first hull appeared at Cannes in September 2023. It is absent from the 2026 sailing range, which now tops out with the Thira 80 and the FPY yacht line.

A jacuzzi forward and a flybridge with two helms

Fountaine Pajot designed the Alegria 67 around outdoor living on three levels. The headline feature is the forward cockpit, which can hold a jacuzzi that fills with sea or fresh water. A door from the saloon serves that forward lounge, and in owner's versions a separate door links the master cabin directly to it, giving the owners a private terrace at the bow.

Up top, the expansive flybridge carries two helm stations, one on each side, which makes docking and sail trim easier on a boat that is nearly 33 feet wide. The builder describes it as an ocean terrace with lounges and sunbeds. Aft, the cockpit works as a beach club leading to the transoms.

Owner, lounge and charter versions

Three concepts were offered. The owner's version gives the owners an exceptional suite in its own hull. The lounge version puts the galley in the hull passageway so the whole saloon is devoted to entertaining. The third arranges multiple en suite cabins plus crew space for crewed charter or large families.

Fountaine Pajot's own spec sheet translated that into concrete layouts. With the galley up in the saloon, the owner's boat has the master suite plus four double cabins (or three doubles and a twin), each with its own bathroom, and the charter boat has six doubles with six bathrooms. With the galley moved down into a hull, the owner's boat drops to three guest cabins and the charter boat to five cabins.

  • Owner, galley up: master suite plus 4 guest cabins, 5 bathrooms
  • Owner, galley down: master suite plus 3 guest cabins, 4 bathrooms
  • Charter, galley up: 6 double cabins, 6 bathrooms
  • Charter, galley down: 5 cabins, 5 bathrooms

Sail plan, weight and what to expect under canvas

Fountaine Pajot gives the Alegria 67 an overall length of 20.36 meters (66 feet 10 inches), a beam of 9.84 meters (32 feet 3 inches), a draft of 1.7 meters and an unladen displacement of 35 tonnes. The rig sets a 130 square meter mainsail and a 100 square meter genoa, with a 200 square meter gennaker listed by Multihulls World, which gives a working sail area of about 230 square meters.

That works out to roughly 6.6 square meters of working sail per tonne of light displacement, a comfortable cruising figure rather than a performance one. Multihulls World found the boat easy to handle underway and noted that rivals at launch were more performance-oriented. Fountaine Pajot's own description is honest: a yacht with abundant volume that remains a sailboat at heart.

We have not found published speed trials or fuel-burn data for the Alegria 67, so treat any speed claims on listings with care and test the boat in a real breeze.

Engines, tanks and systems for crewed cruising

Standard power is twin 110 hp diesels with twin 150 hp units optional. Tankage is 1,200 liters (about 315 gallons) of diesel and 1,050 liters (about 275 gallons) of water, so a watermaker is essential and a generator will run much of the day with air conditioning on.

A boat like this is normally managed by a professional captain and a cook or stewardess. Expect generator, watermaker, air conditioning, hydraulic and electric winch systems to be the main maintenance load rather than the engines themselves.

Budgeting for a 67-foot yacht catamaran

Annual costs vary hugely with crew, but a realistic range is $180,000 to $400,000 a year before depreciation. That covers one or two crew, insurance, dockage for a 33-foot-wide boat (often the hardest item to find in US marinas), haul-outs on a travel lift that can take nearly 10 meters of beam, sail replacement and systems service. Owners who place the boat in a crewed charter program can offset part of that, at the cost of wear.

Finding and judging a used Alegria 67

With only a few dozen built, Alegria 67s rarely appear on the open market and often trade through flagship brokers. Start by identifying the version, because owner and charter boats are different products: a galley-down owner's boat with four cabins is a private yacht, while a six-cabin galley-up boat was usually built for crewed charter and has the hours to show it.

Ask for the charter history, engine and generator hours, rig survey records and the age of the sails. Fountaine Pajot's group also owns Dufour, and the builder's service network covers the Caribbean, Florida and the Med.

How much does a Fountaine Pajot Alegria 67 cost?

New, typical sail-awayNo longer built
Used, typical asking$2.6M to $4.3M
Yearly running costs$180K to $400K

We found no published base price for the Alegria 67, and so few change hands that our range is an estimate built from where comparable 60 to 70 foot production yacht catamarans trade. Owner versions with the galley down, low engine hours and recent watermaker, generator and electronics upgrades sit at the top; ex-crewed-charter boats with five or six cabins sit lower. Many boats are VAT-paid in Europe, so check tax status before comparing.

Smaller in-house sister that shares the design language at a lower cost.

Privilege 585

Heavier, more traditionally finished French luxury cat.

Our verdict on the Fountaine Pajot Alegria 67

The Alegria 67 is the boat that proved Fountaine Pajot could sell a yacht, not just a big catamaran, and nearly forty early orders back that up. Its forward jacuzzi cockpit, twin flybridge helms and flexible layouts make it a superb platform for crewed cruising or charter, and it stays manageable for a professional crew of two. It is not a fast boat for its size, its tanks are small and its beam rules out many marinas, so pick your cruising ground first. Choose an owner's version with documented systems and it remains one of the most livable 20-meter cats built.
