The Fountaine Pajot Power 80 is the yard's largest motor catamaran, a 78-foot 8-inch, 36-foot-wide yacht derived from the Thira 80. Unveiled in 2025 and now sold as the FPY 80, it reaches about 22 knots with twin 900 hp Volvo D13s.

Fountaine Pajot 80, which of the three boats do you mean?
Searches for fountaine pajot 80 land on three related yachts, and listings sometimes blur them. The Thira 80 is the 24-meter sailing catamaran Fountaine Pajot introduced in 2023, the largest sailboat the La Rochelle builder had produced. The Power 80 is the motor version of that platform, revealed in 2025. And since Fountaine Pajot moved its big boats into a separate brand, Fountaine Pajot Yachts, the two are presented as the FPY 80S (sail) and FPY 80 (power).
This page covers the motor yacht. The FPY 80 on the builder's current site carries the same 23.99-meter hull length, 11.09-meter beam, 1.5-meter draft and 900 hp option that magazines reported for the Power 80, and Fountaine Pajot's own June 2026 award announcement still uses the Power 80 name. In practice, a boat ordered as a Power 80 and one ordered as an FPY 80 are the same yacht under evolving branding.
A Thira 80 hull, reworked for 900 horsepower a side
Voile et Moteur described the relationship precisely. As the Power 67 is the engine version of the Alegria 67, the Power 80 is the engine version of the Thira 80, and the two are nearly identical apart from the missing mast and redesigned aft hull sections on the powerboat. Fountaine Pajot says the platform was re-engineered to take engines of up to 900 hp and that the hull shape was refined for water flow and directional stability.
Olivier Racoupeau's office, Berret Racoupeau Yacht Design, drew both the hull and the superstructure, as it has for most Fountaine Pajot models over the past decade. The overall length of 23.99 meters is no accident. It keeps the yacht just under the 24-meter mark that brings tougher large-yacht rules in many jurisdictions, while the 36-foot 5-inch beam delivers the kind of volume that usually needs a 100-foot monohull.
The sailing heritage shows in the details. The Thira introduced glass-integrated solar panels in the flybridge roof and a side-deck bulwark that folds down into a seat over the water, and the Power 80 keeps both ideas.
Reading the Power 80 spec sheets without getting burned
Published numbers for this boat do not all agree, and a buyer spending this much should know where the gaps are. Fuel capacity is the biggest one. Voile et Moteur's 2025 launch story quoted 6,000 liters, the current FPY 80 page lists 4,800 liters (about 1,268 gallons), and one international listing site shows a far smaller figure. Water is consistent at 1,600 liters, or about 423 gallons.
Engine packages vary in the same way. Every source agrees on the top option, twin 900 hp Volvo Penta D13 diesels on shafts. The standard engine has been shown as 480 hp on the current FPY 80 sheet and as larger units in older builder copy. Weight figures range from a 65.2-tonne figure in the French press to 77.7 tonnes at full load on the builder's site, which is the number we use.
None of this is unusual for a new flagship whose specification is still settling, but it means the build contract, not a brochure, should define tankage, engines and displacement. On a used boat, measure the tanks against the builder's as-built drawings.
Six layouts built around where the galley goes
Fountaine Pajot offers six accommodation versions, and the first decision is the galley. It can sit on the bridgedeck to port, open to the saloon, or drop down into the port hull, which frees the main deck for a bar and a second small lounge. The crew area, with a captain's cabin, is arranged around the galley side of the boat.
The second decision is the starboard hull. Owners who cruise as a couple choose a full owner's suite with a king berth, a walk-in dressing area and a bathroom with a jetted tub and a separate shower, paired with a VIP cabin. Families and charter owners split the same hull into three or four double cabins. Voile et Moteur counts four, five or six guest cabins and eight to twelve berths, and the builder now lists layouts for up to seven guest cabins and 14 guests with up to five crew.
Every cabin uses a berth set athwartships, facing the hull windows. That is a signature of the platform and it gives each guest a sea view from bed, though it also means the berths are approached from the side rather than the foot.
Fold-down terraces, a bow spa and a beach club
The cockpit bulwarks fold outward to create seating terraces over the water, an idea Galeon made famous on monohulls and that suits a 36-foot beam even better. The current FPY 80 brochure quotes a 796-square-foot cockpit, a 431-square-foot flybridge with integrated solar panels, a 409-square-foot forward lounge with a jacuzzi, and a 205-square-foot beach club aft for swimming and watersports.
Fountaine Pajot's design point is that guests should always be able to find a quiet corner, so seating faces both inward and out to sea, and crew circulation is kept separate from guest areas. On a boat that will often carry 10 or more people, that separation matters more than raw square footage.
About 22 knots flat out, and an ocean at 5 to 7
With the twin 900 hp D13s, Voile et Moteur reported a top speed of about 22 knots and a cruise of 13 to 14 knots. That is quicker than the 67 but still firmly in long-range catamaran territory rather than sport yacht performance.
The real selling point is range at low speed. The French magazine noted the boat can contemplate an Atlantic crossing at 5 to 7 knots. We have not seen a published fuel curve or range figure from an independent test, so ask for the builder's performance data for the exact engine package before planning an ocean crossing.
What the Fountaine Pajot 80 price really buys
Voile et Moteur listed the Power 80 at 8 million euros before tax with the 900 hp Volvo D13 package, which converts to about $9 million in 2026 before US import costs. That puts it in the same band as the 80 Sunreef Power, while costing considerably less than a monohull yacht of comparable interior volume.
Above 24 meters Fountaine Pajot Yachts runs a co-creation program with a dedicated program manager and designer, and the FPY 80 is the first model where bespoke furniture and reconfigured spaces are offered. Personalization of that kind can add significantly to the base figure. Our working range for a delivered, well-equipped US boat is $8.5 million to $10 million, with any early resale boat likely to ask $7 million to $9 million.
Crew, dockage and a realistic running budget
This is a crewed yacht. Fountaine Pajot designed it for three to five crew, and few owners will run an 80-foot, 77-tonne catamaran without at least a full-time captain and a stewardess or mate. Salaries become the largest line in the budget.
A realistic US operating budget is $450,000 to $800,000 a year before depreciation, covering crew, insurance, megayacht-class dockage for a 36-foot beam, twin D13 services, generators, watermaker and lithium systems, and a yard period every year. Dockage is the wild card, because few US marinas have slips this wide outside the big yacht hubs of South Florida, Newport and the Chesapeake.
Early recognition and what it signals
In 2026 the Power 80 won the Power Catamaran Above 20m category at the Yacht Style Awards, held alongside the Singapore Yachting Festival. Awards do not guarantee resale, but they do show the design landing well in Asia and Europe, the two markets where large powercats have sold fastest.
Fountaine Pajot is now planning a 35-meter FPY 110 or FPY 120, so the 80 will not stay the flagship for long. That matters less for a boat at this level than for a production cat, because buyers here pay for the specific yacht, its history and its crew rather than for the newest badge.

How much does a Fountaine Pajot Power 80 cost?
Voile et Moteur quoted 8 million euros before tax with twin 900 hp Volvo D13s, which is roughly $9 million at 2026 exchange rates. The co-creation program for the FPY 80, the galley position, crew quarters, tender handling and energy package (lithium storage, solar and watermaker) move the final number more than the hull itself. Resale boats are too few to set a market, so treat any early listing as a negotiation against the cost of a new build slot.

Silent 80
Solar-electric alternative for owners who cruise slowly and want silent running.

Lagoon's long-range powercat flagship with an established charter following and comparable volume.
Sunreef 70 Power
A smaller custom option for buyers who do not need the 80's crew quarters.
Our verdict on the Fountaine Pajot Power 80
The Fountaine Pajot Power 80 is a volume play done intelligently. By taking the proven Thira 80 platform, reworking the sterns and fitting 900 hp shafts, Fountaine Pajot has built a 24-meter yacht with superyacht-style terraces, a bow spa and up to seven cabins at a price that undercuts most custom rivals. It is not fast, and the published spec sheets still disagree on fuel and weight, so the build contract must nail those down. For an owner who wants a crewed, stable, long-legged family yacht and cares more about living space than speed, it is one of the most rational ways to spend 8 million euros on the water.
