The Invincible 33 Catamaran is a twin-outboard center console cat built in Opa-locka, Florida, since 2021. Rated for 900 hp, it hit nearly 62 mph on twin Verado 400s and burned 24.5 gph at a 33 mph cruise in Salt Water Sportsman's test.

Why Invincible built a 33 ft cat
Anyone scrolling Invincible boats for sale will see two families: the Open Fisherman monohulls on Michael Peters' Stepped-Vee Ventilated Tunnel hull, and the catamarans drawn by Morrelli & Melvin. Alex Lipworth founded Invincible in Opa-locka, Florida, in 2006 because he could not find a center console tough, fast and smooth enough for his own fishing, and the company added catamarans in 2016. The Invincible 33 Catamaran arrived about five years later as the smallest platform in that cat range.
The goal was to package the ride and fishability of the 35, 37, 40 and 46 ft cats into a boat that fits a private mooring, a lift or a dry-stack rack more easily. Salt Water Sportsman highlighted exactly that: a 33 footer that tucks into private moorings while keeping most of the features of its bigger siblings. Boating's tester noted that a 33 ft fishing cat is rare as hens' teeth on the market, which is still true.
Invincible borrowed proven parts to build it. The console and dash come from the 36 Open Fisherman, and the three-wide leaning post and mezzanine seating module come from the 35 Catamaran. The 33 has stayed in production, and dealers were taking delivery of 2026 model year boats on twin Mercury V10 400s.
What semi-asymmetrical means on the water
Power cats usually come in two forms. Symmetrical cats have rounded sponsons that mirror inside and out, ride softly and sit stable at rest but tend to lean outboard in turns. Asymmetrical planing cats have flat, slab-sided inner walls, run fast and turn flat but can be tricky in a following sea. Pete Melvin of Morrelli & Melvin, the California firm known for America's Cup design work, told Power and Motoryacht that the Invincible approach splits the difference, aiming for the ride of a symmetrical cat with the speed of an asymmetrical one.
On the 33, each sponson carries two steps and a transom notch. Boating described the result as turn-hugging inner sponson walls with wave-deflecting outer walls, so the boat banks slightly inboard through a turn like a monohull, instead of heeling out. Both Boating and Sport Fishing praised the turning, the stability while trolling and the resistance to rolling in a beam sea, and Sport Fishing noted that the sponsons work best when they have some chop to deal with.
Invincible stresses that the hull does this without trim tabs or ballast tanks. That keeps systems simple, though owners who run in big quartering seas should still spend time learning how the boat wants to be trimmed.
Twin Verado 400s, 62 mph and 24.5 gph at cruise
Salt Water Sportsman ran the 33 off Miami in a light chop with three adults, 50 gallons of fuel and 100 lb of gear on twin Mercury Verado 400s. The boat posted a 6.5 second hole shot, reached 30 mph in 11 seconds and topped out at 61.9 mph (53.8 knots) at 6,500 rpm, burning 69.1 gph. At 4,000 rpm it cruised at 32.9 mph (28.6 knots) on 24.5 gph, and at 4,500 rpm it made 40.9 mph (35.5 knots) on 28.1 gph.
The 4,500 rpm figure is the sweet spot. It is the most economical point in the published table and gives a theoretical range of about 455 nautical miles on 90 percent of the 400 gallon tank, with the boat running fast enough to beat most weather home. Boating saw nearly identical acceleration on the same engines, with a 6.6 second time to plane.
Invincible rates the 33 for 900 hp, so twin Mercury Racing 450Rs or Yamaha 425 XTOs are the top power options. Boating expected similar results from Mercury's lighter V8 300s, and several used boats run that package.
47 rod holders and two 65 gallon wells
With a 10 ft 3 in beam and a single-level deck, the 33 offers true 360 degree fishability, including the ability to gaff fish at the bow. Boating, Sport Fishing and Salt Water Sportsman all counted 47 rod holders spread across the gunwales, transom, leaning post, hardtop and console racks.
Live bait capacity is serious for the size. A 65 gallon oval livewell with a clear acrylic lid sits on the centerline of the transom, and a second 65 gallon well is in the deck of the starboard sponson, both fed by a sea chest with multiple pumps. Four large in-deck boxes, two forward and two amidships, drain with gulper pumps rather than macerators, and the forward console lounge sits on an insulated coffin box. The mezzanine seat back folds down to reveal a tackle station with four drawers and utility box storage.
Boating's testers wanted two things they did not get: wraparound bow seating and a side boarding door. A starboard transom door leads to the integrated swim platforms between the engines instead.
- Transom livewell 65 gallons, in-deck livewell 65 gallons
- Four insulated fish boxes with gulper pumps
- Console head with access to wiring and batteries
- About 40 sq ft of foredeck standing room
- Options include hardtop, tower with second station, outriggers and underwater lights
Three published weights, and which one to trust
Weight figures for the 33 vary by source. Power and Motoryacht's pre-launch preview and Boating's test table quote about 9,800 lb, Salt Water Sportsman lists 11,000 lb with power, and the 2024 buyers guides list a dry weight with power of 14,000 lb. The differences likely reflect bare hull versus rigged boat and the growth of standard equipment over time.
For trailering and lift sizing, use the higher figure and add fuel. A full 400 gallons of gasoline adds about 2,400 lb, so a fully loaded, rigged 33 Catamaran is a heavy boat for its length. Most owners keep them on lifts, in dry stack or on triple-axle trailers.
Costs, warranty and what holds value
We estimate $16,000 to $34,000 a year to keep an Invincible 33 Catamaran, excluding depreciation and fuel for heavy tournament use. That covers insurance on a 60 mph boat, dry stack or a lift slip, two annual outboard services, bottom paint or hull cleaning, and electronics updates.
Invincible builds semi-custom boats near the top of the price spectrum, and used values reflect that. The 2022 boat we tracked asked $475,000 with twin Mercury 300 V8s, Garmin electronics, a polycarbonate enclosure and a trailer included. Boats with V10 400s, transferable engine warranties and the original transferable hull warranty sell first. Twin-engine boats repower far more cheaply than triple or quad cats, which helps long-term value.

How much does a Invincible 33 Catamaran cost?
Invincible quotes prices through dealers only, and magazine tests list price on request, so the new figures are our estimate for a well-equipped boat on twin Mercury V10 400s. On the used side, a 2022 33 Catamaran on twin Mercury 300 V8s was listed in 2024 at $475,000 after a $20,000 reduction. Engine choice is the biggest driver: V10 400s or Yamaha 425s command more than V8 300s, and transferable engine warranty and the 12-year transferable hull warranty Invincible offered on that boat both support value.

Compare side by sideOur verdict on the Invincible 33 Catamaran
The Invincible 33 Catamaran is one of the few genuinely good small fishing cats. Morrelli and Melvin's semi-asymmetric hull fixes the outboard lean that spoils many cats, the test data shows real speed with sensible fuel burn at 35 knots, and the deck layout is borrowed from bigger, proven Invincibles. It is expensive for its length and the weight figures need checking, but if you want cat stability and ride in a boat that still fits a lift, it is the benchmark at 33 feet.
