The Saxdor 460 GTC is Saxdor's first real yacht

The Saxdor 460 GTC is the boat that moves Saxdor out of the sportsboat market and into small-yacht territory. Saxdor first showed a rendering in May 2024, gave it a world premiere at boot Dusseldorf in January 2026 and brought it to the Palm Beach International Boat Show for its US debut that spring. At 47 feet 2 inches overall and about 13 feet 5 inches wide, it is the largest and most complex Saxdor so far, and according to the builder the first year of 460 production sold out. An open sister, the 460 GTS, followed at Cannes in September 2026.

The timing matters. Saxdor built around 700 boats in 2025 and grew revenue from 109 million to 180 million euros, CEO Erna Rusi told BoatTEST, and in March 2026 Malibu Boats bought the company. Saxdor's Finnish plant handles the biggest models, including this one, while the Polish factory builds the smaller boats. The 460 GTC was designed by Saxdor's in-house team with outside studios One Design, Alpha and M&D.

A wheelhouse that disappears

The full-beam wheelhouse is the whole point. Closed up, it is a bright, heated and sheltered saloon with wide views from the helm to the dinette, ideal for northern Europe or a Chesapeake fall. Open it and almost every surface moves: two long electric terraces drop down on either side; glass side doors slide and stack under the hardtop overhang to leave two big openings at the aft end; there is a stern door, a large drop-down aft window, two smaller opening side windows and a big electric sunroof. Motor Boat & Yachting called it the closest thing yet to a fully convertible wheelhouse.

The furniture adapts too. Backrests on both saloon sofas fold flat to make seaward-facing benches looking out over the terraces, the front of the dinette lifts to become a forward-facing seat, and the cockpit table drops to form a sunpad. The detail everyone photographs is the optional hammock that plugs into the port terrace. Saxdor claims the largest saloon in the sector.

Motor Boat & Yachting's one worry was complexity. With dozens of moving parts, motors and seals, it wondered whether the boat might be too clever for its own good, a fair question for anyone planning to keep it outdoors in salt water for a decade.

Getting forward without side decks

Because the wheelhouse runs the full beam, there are no side decks. Access to the big convertible foredeck lounge is through a patent-pending two-part door in the port corner of the windscreen, where the top section of glass retracts into the roof rather than swinging open. Motor Boat & Yachting found the foredeck large and safe. It is a different philosophy from Saxdor's own 340 GTWA, which keeps walkways, and from the Axopar 38 launched at the same show, which keeps everything simple and robust.

Aft, the cockpit has two layout choices: a pair of sociable sofas and a table under the overhang, or a large sunbed over the optional aft cabin. The stern bench is framed by a half-height window and a port door so the saloon and cockpit can become one space.

Two cabins, or three

Below decks, the standard plan has an en suite double cabin in the bow, using the raised bow seating moldings to free up space, and a twin cabin under the saloon that Motor Boat & Yachting found surprisingly decent, albeit with limited headroom over the beds. The bathroom has a separate shower. An optional aft cabin under the cockpit turns it into a three-cabin boat and raises cruising capacity to six. CE category B allows 15 people aboard for the day.

This is a weekender and short-cruise boat rather than a liveaboard. Water tankage is 160 liters (42 gallons), and the galley is up in the wheelhouse to port, which keeps the cook social but means the boat depends on marina stops for longer trips.

Triple Mercurys and what to expect underway

Power is outboard only. The base package is three Mercury V8 300s; Motor Boat & Yachting lists triple Mercury V10 425s and twin V12 600s as the tempting upgrades, and Saxdor's maximum rating is 1,275 hp. The hull is Saxdor's twin-step deep-V, here with 20 degrees of deadrise, and Saxdor quotes a top speed of 45 to 50 knots. Fuel capacity is listed as 1,300 liters (343 gallons), though one of the builder's spec tables says 1,330 liters.

No independent speed and fuel tests had been published when we wrote this page, so treat performance as builder claims. Saxdor's smaller twin-step boats have tested close to their claims, and the Malibu-owned brand has every incentive to get the flagship right. Options include a Seakeeper stabilizer and a lithium-ion power bank, which matter more on a boat built around open-air living at anchor.

The helm has a low-profile dash for up to three 16-inch Simrad displays, with controls placed for a skipper who looks forward rather than down.

  • Standard: 3 x Mercury V8 300 hp
  • Options: 3 x Mercury V10 425 hp or 2 x Mercury V12 600 hp
  • Maximum power: 1,275 hp
  • Claimed top speed: 45 to 50 knots
  • Fuel 343 gallons, water 42 gallons, draft 2 feet 7 inches excluding engines

Who should buy one, and what it will cost

The 460 GTC suits owners moving up from a 35- to 40-foot outboard boat who want a cabin for the kids and a saloon that works in March and in August, without the cost and complexity of diesels. Saxdor's European base price of about 515,000 euros undercuts most 45- to 50-foot diesel cruisers, and outboards keep service within reach of any Mercury dealer.

Running costs for triple outboards, insurance on a boat in the $600,000 to $850,000 range, a 50-foot slip and maintenance on the many electric doors, terraces and sunroofs add up to roughly $45,000 to $90,000 a year plus fuel. Budget for annual seal and actuator servicing on the convertible wheelhouse; that is where neglect will show first.

How much does a Saxdor 460 GTC cost?

New, typical sail-away$600K to $850K
Used, typical asking$550K to $750K
Yearly running costs$45K to $90K

Saxdor announced the 460 GTC at 499,000 euros before VAT, freight and handling with triple Mercury 300s, and its website now lists 515,000 euros. No US list price has been published, so our US range adds shipping, dealer costs and typical options such as V10 425s or V12 600s, a Seakeeper, the aft cabin and the lithium power bank. With the first year of production sold out, early resale boats will ask close to new.

Our verdict on the Saxdor 460 GTC

The Saxdor 460 GTC is the most inventive boat in Saxdor's range and probably the most convertible wheelhouse on the market. It gives you a sealed, heated saloon one day and an open terrace with a hammock the next, two or three cabins and triple outboard power at a price that undercuts diesel cruisers its size. The unknowns are real performance numbers and how all those moving parts hold up, so insist on a long sea trial and a careful look at the seals. For a buyer who wants one boat for every season, it is a compelling flagship.
