Cobia builds family-friendly center and dual consoles in Fort Pierce, Florida. Part of Maverick Boat Group since 2005 and of Malibu Boats since 2021, it sells through a national dealer network.
Cobia's roots go back decades, and the brand says its story spans more than six decades of boatbuilding, but the modern Cobia took shape in 2005, when it joined Maverick Boat Group in Fort Pierce, Florida. Maverick, founded in 1984 by Scott Deal, already built the Maverick and Hewes flats skiffs and the Pathfinder bay boats, and it brought its engineering and lamination standards to Cobia's offshore and family lineup.
In January 2021 Malibu Boats announced it had acquired Maverick Boat Group, with all four brands, for about $150 million. Malibu already owned Pursuit, and it positioned Cobia as the more family-oriented, value-minded complement to that premium offshore brand. Cobia is still built in Fort Pierce, and its sales run through a national dealer network rather than factory direct.
A Cobia is meant to be a fishing boat the whole family will tolerate. Typical features include a walk-in console head, comfortable forward seating, livewells and rod storage, and hardtops with real windshields. The 2026 range runs from the 245 CC to the 350 CC, with dual console 250 DC and 280 DC models. Published starting prices run from $142,944 for the 245 CC with a single Yamaha 300 to $423,700 for the 350 CC.
The Cobia 240 CC, built for model years 2019 to 2025, shows the formula well. It is a 23-foot 7-inch, 8-foot 10-inch beam center console on the proven 237 CC hull, with a 21.5-degree variable-deadrise bottom, 125 gallons of fuel and a fully molded walk-in head with 6 feet of headroom. A single Yamaha F300 or twin F150s both tested at about 51 mph. Prices rose sharply over the run, from $81,060 for Boating's 2019 test boat to a $116,850 MSRP with twin F150s in 2023, and the 245 CC replaced it for 2026.
Cobias are common on the Southeast brokerage market, and the brand has a strong presence in boat clubs, so some used boats have seen club or rental duty and history matters. Resale is solid for the segment, helped by Yamaha power, dealer support along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts and rising new prices that hold up used values. A used 240 CC typically asks $70,000 to $125,000 in 2026.
